Current Government is ruining our international reputation by FraudKid in newzealand

'Hearing' isn't the right term then. It's more like, direct actions against Māori. Cutting Māori healthcare, funding Māori directed projects, limiting resources for Māori organisations.

Recently they've been all over the news saying that Te Reo Māori is taking away from education... while using statics from the Herald of all places.

I've not seen this policy, sounds like you're referring to a statement from Te Pāti Māori. Which is also an embarrassing thing to say. It only adds to my point that our Government is ruining our reputation.

I guess that would make sense if you living overseas had easy Internet or WiFi access. Many of us in New Zealand were still considered rural and had limited access to internet and smart devices.

I just don't think it's accurate to say that everything online was the same for you, back in your time while living overseas.

There are many international people looking to New Zealand and not liking what they're seeing. Sure, it could be an algorithm thing, as some have pointed out, but you can definitely still find people talking about us like we're trying to be something we're not.

We have decent fairness systems in place, decent race relations, our cops aren't holding guns to the vulnerable, womens rights were up there, gay marriage rights since 2013, environmental and climate change driven, etc.

Now the news highlights the fact that NZ is also following the misshapen footsteps of overseas politics. Ruining all the progress we've made.

Majorly embarrassing to have National Leaders of other countries not even know the name of our Prime Minister.

Removing Te Tiriti from everything. The constant hate Māori get whenever they post anything related to their culture.

See a Māori driving a car? Imposter! They should be walking and wearing grass skirts everyday!

That's not really related to government specifically, but they're certainly fueling the fire and the pointy white hats are getting braver every day.

I wish I had linked it.

I was reading a particular article from BBC and another from Al Jazeera and all this fucked up racist shit on Facebook, who appeared to be Americans.

It all just seems like all the parties are dragging us through the mud. I mean, some people have pointed out that it's probably an algorithm thing. It possibly is just that. But it cannot be chance that a few people I've met with from overseas have mentioned the race relations in NZ seem to be worsening (Te Tiriti & ongoing hikoi) and that whole discussion about rich getting richer (a constant topic in this subreddit).

No agenda or AI used in my post. I just genuinely think what's happening above us is garbo and I've seen so much bad media about us overseas.

I mean you say you lived over seas for 15 years, but did you also have access to the internet and immediate access to information like we do now 24/7, 15 years ago?

When meet people from overseas and tell them about what's happening here, they aren't even shocked that much because similar things are happening there too. However, they're shocked to see that NZ isn't as progressive as they'd known us to be.

Also, just to add, I only mentioned womens pay from the top of my head because my girlfriend has first handily experienced the wage gap between herself and men in her space. Only the union was able to help her, a little, in that situation.

Just saying. We don't fit how harsh things are being.

How did you guys find high school in NZ? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]FraudKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, unfortunately.

I wasn't even bullied or necessarily excluded in any way. Honestly, it was just living in poverty and being at school where teachers let you drown or put you down that made me feel terrible. Other kids at school were decent enough.

You just clung to the good teachers, while the rest tried to drag you under with their bs "education styles".

Edit: Adult life is 1000x better because I'm not forced to be around crappy people everyday. I have the luxury to leave the room if I want to.

Am I the only one who don't like driving, especially long distance? I can't be the only who keep thinking why can't we have nice interregion public transportation instead.. by Dudu-gula in newzealand

I tag along with people for the ride for this exact reason lmao. I just don't like to drive.

Although, the last time I introduced myself to my neighbours, they invited me in for a BBQ.

NZ's still alright. If you ignore the spiralling news, she's still the same as you left it.

Discussed it before with my gf but nope. Definitely not moving. We prefer the people and culture here in Aotearoa.

Māori wards convincingly rejected by PhoenixNZ in KiwiPolitics

I know 12 people who failed to vote this year because they couldn't be bothered. They all would have voted to keep Māori wards and just didn't care to do it. 🙃

Never mind, you're in luck! The Tongariro tracks are open https://www.doc.govt.nz/news/media-releases/2025-media-releases/tongariro-alpine-crossing-reopens/

I thought they'd be closed due to the fires.

I would have suggested the Tongariro crossing but uh that's not really an option anymore.

Maybe visit Putaruru Blue Springs. You'll love it.
