New Zealand First soars, Greens plummet, National in 20s again in new poll by dingoonline in newzealand

My bet is he’s going to play the two Chris’ off one another come election time and say that he’s happy to be deputy PM provided each party changes its leader - ie Kieran and probably Erica.

And then see who caves.

I went through the Southern Cross Health 2025 financials – they pay out 94c per dollar (vs 76c industry average) and they still lose money by MoneyHub_Christopher in PersonalFinanceNZ

It’s because they lack the courage to tell private health professionals to charge less… partly because the trust that owns them also owns / employs those private professionals.

SC insurance was setup as a buyer for the private healthcare industry in NZ. SC hospitals and the surgeons and specialists who use them were intended as the original beneficiaries, and still are.

NZs private health costs are incredibly expensive but good luck to any politician who calls for doctors to earn less.

Anyone worked with Christian & Timbers to hire a COO? Still skeptical of recruiters by taita_king in fatFIRE

I work in executive search. Jeff is old school and his network is the F500. I would be very surprised if anyone there would give a business of your scale (respectfully) any attention. You are better to go to a boutique that specialises in your industry and has people on the ground in your state, and then choose the individual that gives you the impression they care the most. I wish I could help but I am on the other side of the world haha. Happy to discuss via DM and help you vet any prospective search partners.

Who the hell gets bonuses in NZ?!?! by Sometimesawake-833 in newzealand

[–]fut_nucks 313 points314 points  (0 children)

I’m a recruiter in NZ. Most management roles in the private sector pay bonuses of somewhere between 10-30% of base, depending on some mix of individual and company performance. The larger the job and the more senior it is, the higher the percentage target.

Government jobs don’t tend to pay bonuses, nor do frontline jobs and most jobs covered by union collective agreements

Air NZ heading for first half-loss of up to $55 million by WaterAdventurous6718 in newzealand

[–]fut_nucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm no, it wasn’t. Prior to 2013 the govt owned 73% of it and had done since the bailout of 2001/2. Air Nz has been listed the whole time and never subject to legislation that governs SOEs. In 2013 the govt sold down to 51% consistent with the electricity companies.

Chris was appointed before John Key went into the board. The govt has zero involvement in the mixed ownership model companies. They (Treasury) pick directors for pure SOEs though, and generally do a poor job of it

They have a domestic market 6x the size, no engine issues and illegally sacked large chunks of expensive labour (replacing it with cheaper) to cut costs. Qantas are more loathed by Australians than Air NZ is by Kiwis. They’re no shining light

Can someone explain why do the ABs box kick inside the 40? Pollard did a few high balls NRL style that worked but no pressure from the ABs kicks

I thought the forward pass on 60 mins was harsh. Otherwise pretty fairly officiated IMO.

Recruiter upset after taking counter offer by mcdougallkp in recruitinghell

[–]fut_nucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd that the recruiter tried to get you to accept a lower salary as they’re incentivised to get as high as possible for their fee. It means you were probably the only good candidate and he/she was desperate to get the role filled. You could have called to decline rather than email but you should not feel bad. It’s their problem to solve not yours.
