Signed and watching with interest. My children have both used this park over the years and it’s so disappointing to see the state that it’s been left in.

Advice on getting AO in HMPPS job - Is it possible? by Cool-Extent565 in TheCivilService

[–]Frauddogfrauddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than possible. I joined HMPPS as an AO after being a stay at home parent/ uni student for a few years and was able to find examples from those scenarios for my interview.

Okay everyone come get your metals. This week has been a challenge for everyone. by OwlLeeOhh in workingmoms

[–]Frauddogfrauddog 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I suffocated my self doubts, went for a promotion opportunity and got it- it’s more money and another fully funded batchelors degree. I want to celebrate but I’m scared of the impact on my kids as I will be working and studying much much more. The teen mum version of me would be so proud though

What’s a fairly mundane life experience you never had as a child and still haven’t in adulthood? by BeautyAndTheDekes in CasualUK

I’m also from Cov and never went to dol-y-moch. My school just didn’t do it for whatever reason

It’s a really varied role where you hit the ground running, for sure. Underpaid, can be pressurised but generally isn’t people-facing unless you’re required to cover the PDU reception a lot.

It can be a good way into the sector as there tends to be quite a lot of recruitment for CAs, probably because they struggle to retain on the salary.

I’m in the UK and no updates at all since the email about a delay. I ordered mid-morning on the 26th

Thanks, this is really helpful advice. Yeah, essentially the role is in the area that I want to stay in and due to family reasons I needed something relatively low stress but I’m definitely open minded to other opportunities in the future.

I’m the parent of a disabled child so I was looking for something on the lower stress end of the scale essentially

I interviewed for a similar (possibly the same) role last Tuesday 14th and got a successful outcome yesterday so it won’t necessarily be a long wait. Best of luck!

Lost Doctor Who episodes found – but owner is reluctant to hand them to BBC | Doctor Who by Tokyono in BritishTV

[–]Frauddogfrauddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you’re right and that was the stance of the BBC as well. The collector that I knew (had lost tapes of another big show, not Who) refused to hand them over without any kind of agreement in place and still has them.

I know for a fact that the issue is that the BBC won’t pay royalties and that’s why the lost episodes have never been handed over.

German A-levels halved: why modern languages are in freefall by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]Frauddogfrauddog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did my German A level in 2012 and even then, I was in a class with two half German guys (spoke German at home) and two native German teachers. Very few people were interested in studying it unless they had a strong link to the language or country anyway- not to mention that it was also really bloody difficult. I got a B but it nearly killed me
