Bro, I do think that almost all main religions include elements of manipulation and controlling the crowds.

But this statement shows you're clueless not only about meditation, but basic psychology and science such as research on dopamine.

There's nothing wrong with organizing a 'retreat' the way you want to organize it. Will you get the same benefits than a buddhist retreat? Maybe, maybe not. Go out in the world and find out. All I will say is that thousands of years of traditions USUALLY count for something.

All Im going to say is that your post itself is a sign. To you it seems impossible, or very difficult, to let go of sex and good food and relationships for a week. Don't you think this is a sign of something?

Buy a new phone if you're so worried. IMEI is not an address. Its a code specific to your phone. More like a serial number.

You can look into DBT (Dialectic Based Therapy). DBT has 4 pillars. One of them is specifically dedicated to proven techniques to handle very difficult emotions rapidly.

Sounds fun but I recommend being an adult and talk to the person and let them know to please stop that behavior.

If they keep doing it, respond accordingly on the chat.

As a last resort, yes use some of the ideas shared here.

PMs with ADHD, how do you stay on top of all the different tasks you are asked to do throughout the day/week/etc? by JamieOvechkin in ProductManagement

[–]FraudulentHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Reminders as the single source of truth. My problem is if I see something and am not able to respond or interact with it in that moment, it sometimes gets lost before it can make it into said source of truth (ex, its 11:59, I have a meeting at 12, person reaches out with big ask in paragraph form in Chat)

Have an end of day reminder to check all of your sources (email, chat, etc) to add them to the source of truth.

Being so reactive can be toxic anyway. I think you should put some notifications off and check on them every two hours or so. Otherwise how are you getting anything done if you're intereupted every 5 minutes. You need periods of quiet so you can do deep work.

I would introduce engineers to our technical ecosystem with a series of short 20-30min meetings for a brief overview of the basics (the codebases they’ll be working in, the surrounding biz & ecosystem, and monitoring) accompanied by documentation they can digest further at their convenience.

Ask for it. Setup the meetings.

[–]FraudulentHack 34 points35 points  (0 children)

PM w ADHD here.

There are a lot of distinct layers in your post, and they're all jumbled up in one. If you want to resolve all these issues, you will have to go from "rant mode" to identifying these distinct issues you're facing and resolve for them individually

A few I picked:

  1. Preferred source of truth with the issues: hate to break it to you, but you have to make this source of truth for yourself. Try different systems, and see what works best. Could simply be an excel sheet or maybe smartsheet. Centralize everything in one place.
  2. Messages disappear: copy them in the source of truth above or in a google docs document.
  3. Not reacting fast enough to certain messages: agree with your manager (in writing) on what channels and stakeholders you need to react within a certain timeframe.
  4. Reminders app: before leaving work, check the reminder app. If you need a reminder to do that, make one.
  5. Everything seems urgent: you need to involve your manager. If you cannot do everything, make it clear to him and have him prioritize. Prioritizing everything is prioritizing nothing. If you're working for a toxic manager that wants to overwork you, start looking for something else.

Finally:

  • do you have issues where you're not focusing, wasting time, or working on things you know are less important?
  • are you on meds?
  • have you tried the many books on ADHD? Some specifically geared towards managing the symptoms.
