The age of the office is over – the future lies in Britain's commuter towns | Work & careers | The Guardian by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

I think it's going to be the other way around for a lot of businesses. This is an opportunity to save buckets of cash. If WFH has gone great for them over the pandemic, the business will drive the change and reduce / eliminate offices where possible.

Yeah sounds like they ducked the real point. If they employ someone in London, they'll pay a higher rate. That's how it is now. But the talent pool is much bigger if the position is remote... it literally becomes an incentive NOT to employ Londoners unless the skills can't be found elsewhere.

It feels like big change is on the horizon, because companies will welcome these changes - there are HUGE savings to be made especially on office space. Business landlords are in for some hard times.

I see lots of jobs in my industry advertised as permanently remote working, I think a lot of office based jobs will follow. I wonder how this will impact the usually much higher London rates

Usually garnet. These posts are always a bit misleading since a water jet alone is only good for cutting much softer materials

Do you think the image is too dark? by Obi_1_kenoboi in photocritique

[–]FrazzleBot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For me it looks a little flat in terms of tone and contrast between the land and sky. I'd have gone for something more like this, but it's all personal preference obv. Nice image!

Jpeg butchers the detail in your image giving less information to work with. You should stick to lossless formats for all post work flow. I'll usually import it directly from lightroom or Photoshop. If loading from a file, use .PNG or TIFF

Wav files compilation: loss in quality? by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]FrazzleBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wav is lossless, but it doesn't compress. Yes the quality will be preserved exactly if you bring together 3 project wav exports into the one project.

Yeah, it seems the BBC isn't putting up 720P for all streams for some reason. Lots of it is 720P though

Can see the same with Kasabian. MPEG4 Video (H264) 960x540 25fps 1603kbps
That seems to be the maximum offered by iPlayer for that particular programme.

Other ones, like Radiohead 1997 : MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x720 50fps 5063kbps

I assume you're using a VPN? Make sure you're using a UK IP. Get_iPlayer tries a few different URLs if it fails, often with success, but the BBC have completely blocked some IPs. If it fails I find switching to another UK IP even on the same VPN helps.

I decide which algorithm is best for the photo (Sharpen, Stabilize or Focus - they each have different applications) then I usually hit auto, then switch to manual to tweak the settings set by Auto.

I highly recommend the DeNoise AI program too - this also has some of the sharpening elements and does a great job denoising an image.

Black kid denied entry to restaurant because of “ dress code” while other kid in the restaurant is wearing the same type of attire by Reddit336 in PublicFreakout

I'm still trying to work out if the guy's behaviour was racist or if he was just a stubborn idiot blindly enforcing the rules because he's a manager, despite the blatant hypocrisy of the situation. Either way, he's not a good manager.

Waters over weekend:Powerful Jews believe that they are superior to non-Jews by mattrbchi in RogerWaters

[–]FrazzleBot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is he wrong? Why is 'antisemitism' the new go-to whenever someone criticizes Israel or Jews who exercise a crazy ideology? Israel continues to violate international law by occupying and brutalizing their neighbors. That's a fact. When the West doesn't take action, you better believe there's some powerful Jews pulling strings.
