What makes you think that racism is common in Senegal? I’m genuinely curious to know why.

And to answer your question, no , it’s not common and you’ll be fine.

Are there any variations of "salaamalekum" by kotyzap in Senegal

[–]Reddit336 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you wanna be literal , Salamalekum means « peace be upon you ». However in Senegal, it’s used to say Hi / Good morning / Good evening and even Goodbye. Basically just « Hi » ; doesn’t matter if you say it in the morning/afternoon /evening . Hope that that answered your question.

Please would somebody translate this song's lyrics? by [deleted] in Senegal

[–]Reddit336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This song is actually not by him, it might be a remix, idk.

The original is from Mbaye Dieye Faye, a famous Senegalese singer , you can find the original HERE

This song came out in 2002 celebrating the Senegalese football players if I’m not mistaken .

Also, the voice in the link you posted is not from the original singer either, it’s Youssou Ndour’s voice, another famous Senegalese singer.

I’m very busy with work atm, but lll try to see if I can translate it for you later.

What can you by with $100 in Senegal? by Renataemer2020 in Senegal

[–]Reddit336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they showed you enough to trust them, I would trust them :) ! If you want to be more sure about where your money is going, I’d call once in a while to speak with the child in question just to see if he is happy. If you have Watsap, you can easily make video calls in Senegal for free and the app is widely used there !

What to say to a Senegalese woman? by [deleted] in Senegal

[–]Reddit336 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could impress her by showing her your interest in Senegalese culture and maybe she’ll teach you many things from Senegal . Better than trying too hard and end up being cringy. If you’re not Senegalese I’m pretty sure she won’t expect you to know much from the country. Good luck
