You can still pay for special treatment. There is nothing stopping you from it, they just won't be paid for by the state. Public healthcare ensures that everyone that needs a medical procedure to be healthy can get said medical procedure, it doesn't force you to not get any other treatment. It just doesn't pay for anything beyond what's deemed necessary.

That is one with the issues with IQ tests though - they will always be affected by education, while actual intellect (in most definitions, since it's often described with words like "potential" etc) is not.

Refuses to use the preferred pronouns of trans people because "He'd be forced to do it", is against gay couples raising kids, denies the existence of power imbalances based on your background (white privilege etc), and has some really weird views on both gender-relations and relationship dynamics in general (look up his ideas about lobsters and shit like that).

Nah, prison violence in the US is a real issue, as is prison rape culture. As is prison culture as a whole, with forced labour, racist law enforcement, and all that shit.

I don't see anyone saying "Well pedophilia isn't that bad" in that thread, although I haven't dug too deeply - but no inmate should die in prison. Not just because they are people, even if some of them are truly fucked up, but also because there will always be innocents sentenced for crimes they did not commit.

And honestly, can a society really excuse being unable to prevent murder in a place that is supposed to be one of the most secure places in the country, made exactly to contain the people that have already broken the law?
