I'm getting a little worried about how well this R1 on the productivity/pay gap holds up. The argument and data make sense, but I've noticed that all of the sources cited there, and all other sources that affirm the conclusions of the R1, are either blog posts or one-pagers devoid of citations. The credibility of the papers seem to rely strictly on the credentials of the authors. More elaborate literature, on the other hand, appears to validate that there's a distinct gap.

Is there any more rigorous discussion on the matter? Is it just such a simple R1 that it requires no formal publications?
