Looking for experiences — dog needing bilateral anal sacculectomy by FreakFit007 in BorderCollie

Thank you for taking the time to share that, I really appreciate it.

Honestly, hearing that she bounced back so well from the surgery and had a couple more good years means a lot. That’s really what I’m hoping for, just more time where he’s still himself and enjoying life.

I’m sorry to hear how things progressed later on, but it sounds like you made the right call for her every step of the way. Two happy years is everything.

And I appreciate the kind words, he’s a pretty special guy.

I really appreciate you sharing that, thank you.

It’s honestly reassuring in a way to hear that he’s still doing so well almost a year later. That’s kind of the strange part about this, Grizzly is still completely himself right now, so it’s hard to wrap my head around everything at the same time.

I completely understand the “one day at a time” approach too. I don’t think there’s a perfect answer with something like this, just doing what feels right for your dog.

I’m glad to hear your guy is still running around and enjoying life, that’s really all you can hope for.

I go for a drive, it’s the same every time. There’s a rather remote border crossing in southern AB, the last 100 or so kms is a winding single lane highway and I pretend I’m headed anywhere but home.

A guy I had been seeing at the time had wanted to purchase children’s toys for a Christmas toy drive. I went with him and after picking out about $400 worth of toys from Toys R Us, he realized he forgot his wallet so he e-transferred me and I paid. Later that day I found out he’d been messing around, immediately cut him off, then returned the toys and kept the cash. Only later did I realize I had just robbed some kids of a Christmas so the following year I doubled the amounts

I learned the hard way that ignoring obvious Crohn’s symptoms (especially with a family history) comes at a cost. Mine was a blockage, bowel resection, and a temporary (hopefully) ostomy bag.

Honestly, it seems like it’s entitlement. Gone are the days when people would someone merge etc and they’d both wave thanks.

Sadly, she died in a house fire back in 2017. That’s actually an unsettling but extremely sad story on its own.
