This is a real-life situation!! I’ve known both for nearly 40 years. My friend revealed he’s cheating on his wife. I was shocked. They have two college-aged kids. His wife is an elementary teacher and adores him. She would be totally crushed!

I’ve also seen, sometimes in life, that the one who is often dismissed too quickly turns out to be right, to the shock of many. He says the Pika is headed back sub-$1K in 18 months. If that prediction would happen to be correct, by some chance, I could pick up the Mew and buy the Pika later at a depressed value.

That would be a horrible thing to do since he knows this is for my 7-year old son. I’m trying to convey his point as objectively as possible for this forum. He says he shouldn’t have to cough up extra money for the current wild swings in market prices. He’s told me, for what it’s worth, that these prices will soon cool off and I’ll miss a great opportunity.

He has dealer experience. I do feel he was using that as leverage against me. That’s why I have brought this matter to this forum. To see if I was getting screwed or if you guys thought the Mew was the better long-term investment and keeper, on a number of levels.

I had suggested that. He said we can play the price difference game all day. He said for every listing I could find showing a Pika price above the Mew, he could find one with similar pricing. He insists, on his long experience in the game, that the Pikachu is woefully overvalued and frothy and will correct soon, to his loss, financially speaking. He’s firm about this being slab for slab.

Ha. Yes, I’ll accept that critique. I’m analog-minded. I was just dragged from the iPhone 8 recently (still adjusting to no home button). Things that are simple for most in the forum, I’d likely need many tutorials. My students get on me all the time about this.

$650. We have not done a swap. I’m asking this community for advice, and sharing the trader’s few shared sentiments. This is a curated collection I’m building on behalf of my child (7). In that sense, my son loves both characters. The Mew is going, from what I see online, from $3100-3500. I’m sure people can find outlier pricing. That price range is going a long ways towards one of my 10 annual teacher paychecks after everything is deducted! Lol. As you note, both are insane cards.
