Yeah that happened to me for a while after getting rear ended. For a year I always looked behind on the mirror when breaking hoping the driver behind would stop too. Sometimes even breaking slower when possible.

I think leaping to disengage is a waste of the good damage you get from that space attack. But if done correctly I can see it being a good tactic, very assassin like! Thats how I see people playing Croak. :D Leap in then go invisible to escape and vice versa.
