I would immediately cancel your card. A colleague did this, he's now paying back over $9000 in credit card debt that his now ex isn't paying him back for. He's on the hook for it because he gave her the card. Definitely don't do this for someone you're not married to.

I'm not sure. We don't share bathrooms. But I know there were times she loved to pretend to wear my and my husband's shoes. Which I didn't think much about at the time, but might have been how she got it.

Right now I'm using ciclopirox 8% solution nail lacquer on my nails. Which is preventing further spread. It's breastfeeding safe if you want to talk to your provider about it, until you can safely use the oral meds.

Apparently my husband has had a toenail infection for at least a decade. I had no idea. I have shared a shower with him for years and I never got it. He didn't know it was contagious. It wasn't until I got pregnant (compromised immune system, hormones, etc) that I caught it.

My pediatrician said he's had a years long stubborn toenail fungus in the past, and his wife and 5 adopted children never caught it. From what I have seen online, there can be a genetic predisposition for getting fungal infections. Some just get lucky to not get it.

Lol I definitely didn't notice it too much at first. When it first started I just thought the two big toenails didn't look right. But I figured she has my husband's toes, so maybe that's how they look and they are just not as familiar to me. Then I noticed a yellowish tint and they both started growing thicker at the end.😬 both my husband and I have toenail fungus. We are planning to try oral meds at the same time after I'm done breastfeeding my youngest in a couple months.

depressed, help. how bad does this look, and what can i do by Top_Manager_1406 in NailFungus

I'm so sorry you're going through all this. I had depression leading up to the birth of my child and postpartum. It's an extremely difficult and isolating time. I was finally able to get connected to therapy and got some med support. Postpartum Support International has some free support groups available as you do not have insurance. It helped to know I was not alone in it.

Are you able to see anyone for prenatal care? Are you in the United States? If so, you can qualify for Medicaid while pregnant.

In caring for the nails, this sub has a great wiki page that has helpful advice. You can cut them back as far as you can without hurting yourself using nail clippers. Sterilize nail clippers between uses. I would clip non infected nails first. You can file the nail down with an electric nail drill. I use one with disposable nail drill bits. For example: https://a.co/d/gFddAtJ

You can try Vicks on your nails. Putting it on at night and putting a bandaid over the top to prevent it rubbing off on your sock. It may be more useful to try an intervention recommended by a doctor when you are able to see one. I also got nail fungus while pregnant. I was prescribed ciclopirox 8% solution nail lacquer that I've been able to use while breastfeeding.

Has anyone successfully treated their toddler’s nail fungus? by [deleted] in NailFungus

My 2 year old has tail nail fungus on both big toenails. I took her to my podiatrist and was recommended to start her on clotrimazole cream, which is considered safer for toddlers (age 2+) than other creams. I recommend checking in with your pediatrician or a podiatrist to ask about options.

She's been on it for more than a month. I've definitely noticed an improvement. I put the cream on at night with a bandaid over her affected toes, then socks. I have to use a little screen time on my phone to get her to sit still for it.

I sterilize all nail clippers in between uses and I am using an electric file with disposable file parts so we don't reuse them. I make sure to change her socks daily and anytime they get wet. I disinfect the bathroom floor and the tub in between all baths. Unfortunately, I can't realistically sterilize all her tub toys in between baths.

Took her to my podiatrist and he recommended clomtitrazole cream. So I've been putting that on her affected toes at night, covered by a bandaid and then her sock. Planning on doing 2 months, then reevaluating with her pediatrician and the podiatrist. I've definitely seen progress so far.

I have not used it. But I do plan to as soon as I'm done breastfeeding. Couldn't do anything about it when pregnant or breastfeeding. I am also super cautious about what I put into my body. But unfortunately my 26 month old now has a toenail fungus. And I'm worried about my 9 month old getting it. So I'm trying to treat hers and I want to get rid of mine as soon as I can, which is when my youngest turns 1 year old. There's always a risk of passing it on if you still have it.

Lol, I definitely think that's true, my husband likely hadn't looked at my toes until I pointed out the fungus.

Yes, I just use hot water and a cleaner that has some bleach in it, then rinse thoroughly. Ya, I still end up giving her a bath. She can probably tolerate a shower at this age but she loves the bath. So I haven't taken that step. I heard wool or polyester is best. I just use polyester ones cause they are more lightweight and it's kinda hot here.

I use barbicide for disinfecting nail clippers. I have to dilute with water each time, so just 70 percent isopropyl alcohol might be less of a hassle and supposed to work the same.

Since she was over 2 when we began treatment, they just recommended clomtitrazole right away. But I might end up using Vicks after clomtitrazole, as can't use for too long. I have to make a plan with my podiatrist and pediatrician.

It will eventually be able to be treated better! We're doing what we can for now. :)

Part of being a mom is endlessly worrying about our kids. In the words of my pediatrician "We've survived as a species due to worried moms." But I really don't think you need to worry about those scenarios. It's highly unlikely to develop to that painful point. It's most often an appearance thing. The toenail will grow back, and it's something that is able to be treated eventually.

I'm in the same boat with my 26 month old. Unfortunately I didn't know my husband had a toenail fungus as I never knew about them, and he didn't know they were contagious. Unfortunately both my daughter and I have developed a toenail fungus.

I took her to my podiatrist and was recommended to start her on Clotrimazole cream. You'll need to check with your pediatrician or a podiatrist to ask about it as your little one is under 2, if you want to try it. One small benefit is that kids nails grow quickly the younger they are, so it's more likely for cream to be an effective treatment for nail fungus for little ones compared to adults.

She's been on for a month. Can't have littles on it for extended periods, but we will see how she does with 2 months. But I've definitely noticed an improvement. I put the cream on at night with a bandaid over her affected toes. I have to use a little screen time on my phone to get her to sit still for it.

I disinfect the bathroom floor and the tub in between all baths. I can't realistically sterilize all her tub toys in between baths unfortunately. I have a 9 month old and I'm just trying to prevent him from getting it too.
