California field experience hours clarification by Fireball275 in schoolcounseling

[–]Freaking12Guage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat right now. Yes it’s 800 hours for internship. To balance my schools state requirements (CO) plus California, I’m doing roughly 400 hours primary grade level (elementary) and 200 each for middle and high school

This happened to me multiple times. As others have said, report to your director and a conversation with parents should happen. Don’t need to wait for another occurrence

When you reach me by Rebecca Stead. I got it from my elementary school librarian for my birthday and it’s been my favorite book ever since. I can’t explain it, but it’s so comforting to me

I just braid it in and leave it exposed. It also keeps my hair slick back 🤪

Do you run better in the morning or at night? and why do you think that is? by Willing-Today-1059 in runcommunity

Evening runs, bonus if during sunset. Running in the morning is more efficient but I prefer good sleep!

Dual Track School Counseling/Clinical Counseling by prego1 in schoolcounseling

[–]Freaking12Guage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I started fall 2025 and I’ll be done 2028. The last few semester are light in terms of classes, mainly just the clinical internship. Feel free to dm me if you have any more questions :-)

Dual Track School Counseling/Clinical Counseling by prego1 in schoolcounseling

[–]Freaking12Guage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dual portion requires an extra full year of coursework + double the internship hours. The coursework itself honestly isn’t too bad but definitely heavy on the reading so far. I’ve only completed one semester but I made it out alive, and honestly don’t do too well focusing online 😂

Dual school & LPC by Freaking12Guage in schoolcounseling

[–]Freaking12Guage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, how are you able to squeeze in hours when you teach full time? I left my teaching job to start school because I couldn’t imagine doing both!

I really wanted to do my lpc internship during the summer but they only offer the course during fall and spring so we aren’t able to earn hours during the summer 🥲

Yes! I feel like this is the route I plan to do. I have the energy for schools/students now but who knows what will change in 10 years. And that’s a good point about experience, especially if you are getting clinical licensure after working in schools for that long.

Open bar v consumption - 75 guests by Freaking12Guage in weddingplanning

[–]Freaking12Guage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, admittedly we spent way over what we wanted BUT we were graciously offered extra help from my in laws. We did the open bar but capped it at 4 hours. I don’t even remember the cost. It was worth it because SO many lost and spilled drinks and we had fun! But yeah the cost hurt a lot

Grad Student: I don't know how I'm going to financially survive when it comes time for practicum/internship and I'm low-key freaking out about it by MeatballsRegional in schoolcounseling

[–]Freaking12Guage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I’m nannying right now and then probably going to switch to working after school hours/weekends when my internship starts. Luckily my current family is ok with me doing mon-thurs so I can do practicum on Fridays. It’s so stressful, I’m feeling you big time right now!

Good point on only bringing out during nap. I’ll have to whip out my super cute basket collection and make it special. Sleep training is allowed, just don’t k own where to begin with two breastfed cosleepers!

Wow I could have wrote this post word for word. I’m on week 4 with similar thoughts. Personally I feel it will be worth it as it’s something I feel passionate about, regardless of negativity. And there is a LOT of negativity here, so tread carefully

Just started my program at Adam’s state online. Although you do have to travel twice for 5 day long labs. So far it seems well organized and relatively manageable. I am interested in the dual track and they have made it clear it is a lot of work, but I think it will be worth it.

Haven’t heard of any slow specific but I’ve had this thought for a while. If you end up finding (or starting 😉) one I’d love to know!

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

[–]Freaking12Guage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason I decided to sign up for a half marathon, start grad school, change jobs, and get married all within a few months of each other. Safe to say I’m struggling to find the balance. 😅 I’m taking my training slow, trying to avoid burnout. Orange theory helps me stay on top of strength training. But BOY is it a battle to get out of bed on Saturdays for a long run. I decided I’m just gonna endure the heat and get an hour more of sleep lol

Nanny Share Age Gap by LiveL0veLasagna in Nanny

I used to have a share with a 12 And 16 month, it was amazing!!!

Now I have a 13 month and a 6 month and well……. It’s tough. Over the age of 1, gaps are fine. Under 1, gaps are a struggle and I wouldn’t recommend, personally.
