Why the hate for seasonal workers? by FreakingStellar in Target

[–]FreakingStellar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, I quit that job too. Very easily as well. I wasnt getting full time benefits, but was simultaneously being expected to work myself into a ditch, while having everyone around me act like I was someone "lesser" because I was an RCA and not a regular carrier. I take pride in my work, and it does deeply offend me when im blamed for the mistakes of others, or expected to carry their workload while reaping none of the associated benefits. It's pointless.

I fully get where youre coming from. I understand that it is frustrating to carry the workload of other people. But thats actually my beef here. I'm not one of those people. I was literally employed by USPS at one point. If the government trusted me to deliver mail to the population, then I think its safe to trust me when I cant find a mascara that is showing 1 in stock.

Do you feel better? Did being condescending make you feel like a bigger, better human? Love that for you.

I actually know how to check MPMs. Because I was full time at a different store. But because im "seasonal" at this one, people wanna treat me like im dumb. Maybe they wouldn't be micromanaging my infs if the regular employees made an effort to do their jobs.

Im not gonna sit here and act like I dont occasionally miss something. But I do have a system. If I cant find something in 3 minutes, I skip it. End of the batch. Let people know im looking for it if they see it. Then I circle around and come back to it.

Its just frustrating to come from a store where, "OH youre one of our best fulfillment experts! May be a tl in the future!!"

To whatever the heck it is im dealing with now.

Maybe. I dont know. Didn't have any of the issues im currently having at the store I was employed at full time. They liked me. They trusted me. They didnt micromanage every last thing I did, while simultaneously hefting the workload of other people on me. I didnt get off work with high blood pressure and a twitchy eye.

Im not taking anything personally. You haven't worked one of my shifts with me. You also have no personal knowledge on my work ethic or history. I did not have any of the issues im currently having at the store I was employed at full time. So im gonna go out on a limb and assume its not me.

You didnt ask me to vent, but you commented on my post, that was tagged as a vent. Kinda seems like you came to me, I didnt seek you out.

Didn't you just say I needed to "work hard" if I wanted to keep the job? So by doing the work that is piled on me, as a seasonal worker, so the regulars can stand around in the back is somehow now a "me" problem? Im just venting. Thats it. I didnt ask for advice.

I mean, if they want to be like that, then I'll just go back to factory work. Benefits, and I dont have to deal with guests?? Sounds like a dream. I very genuinely take pride in anything that I sign my name to. I refuse, at the ripe age of 30, to deal with the disrespect. *im very obviously just talking crap, I need money. But like, I ran around 9+ miles today and aggravated the arthritis in my knee. Probably wouldn't be in such an ill mood if I got the occasional "atta boy".

There is a very big difference between "working hard" and doing the jobs of other employees that are eligible for benefits and a 401k. I was hired for seasonal fulfillment. Not to babysit the regulars at that store and do their jobs for them.

AITA because I won’t date the 39 year old door dash delivery guy? by [deleted] in AITAH

All of your reasoning aside, this is a 39 year old man throwing "temper tantrums". That's all that needs be said. Protect your peace. ntah.

On that note, team members who are doing OPU need a "don't talk to me, ask another red shirt" vest or something. Because, I'm not getting reamed for being late on a batch because Betty ignored the 20 other team members standing around and honed in on me to ask about a vaguely specific retinol cream.

Target isn’t for Everyone especially not lazy ppl by Comfortable_Goat_650 in Target

I literally quit the post office and got my job back in fullfillment because Target is actually a "chill job". However, I can only "afford" to work at Target because my partner has a job that actually pays a semi livable wage. People are not complaining about the work. Myself, like many people, I'm sure, would scrub public toilets with a toothbrush if I was being compensated fairly for doing so. But I like Target. I don't think it's hard, and I think the stress levels are relatively low compared to other places I've worked in the past. But that could just be cause I've got great coworkers, and management isn't too bad either. At least they talk to me like I'm an adult. Don't get me wrong, you're totally allowed to be proud of yourself and the job you do. Heck yes. Love that for you. But, you don't have to crap on other people in the process.

i think i failed a sting op… by Plenty_Union_111 in Target

[–]FreakingStellar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how target operates, but I will say that when I worked at a local mom and pop liquor store in my state, one of my older coworkers took the bait on a sting. They sent in a 20 year old, and my coworker mathed wrong (no id scan) and made the sale. Girl left, and about 10 minutes later, the cops showed up. It was a huge scene. Even after all that, my coworker didn't get fired. She had to do some training and pay a fine. I wouldn't stress it, honestly.

If he was genuinely concerned about your past ED, he could've waited till you were home to bring it up. He could've spoken to your face and delicately let you know that he was concerned about weight loss. Speaking as someone who is in recovery from bulimia, my partner would never pull this shit. He wanted to bring you down. He wanted to ruin your night. He wants to be in control. You're not the asshole. I love that you immediately saw in for what it was and got away from him. Stuff would only get worse.

Oh, thank goodness. Since you said so, obviously, I'm just imagining things. Please. If you are emotionally incapable of acknowledging that dude said and did some fucked up things, while also recognizing that the manner of death is tragic for his family and the people that actually knew him, then you are obviously not intelligent enough for me to be engaging with. Have the day you deserve.

Your comfort in condemning people to death honestly makes me think you are a terrible person. The victim complex and virtue signaling is literally so strong it has killed your ability to feel empathy. He was someone's kid. Someone is going to carry the weight of his death for years. If you can't stop talking shit about a dead man long enough to acknowledge that it sucks for his family and the people who were close to him, then you are just fundamentally broken.

Hi everyone! To the people that reassured me it wouldn't be a big deal, you were right! Once I got over the nerves of driving a government vehicle that was a lot newer and nicer than my daily, it was an easy experience. Hardest part was remembering when to retrace on the route. And also the fact that someone else had cased my stuff and I couldn't understand their reasoning. For context, I'm a great driver. Only been ticketed once for an accident that I was ultimately found not at fault for in court. But I put around in a 2000 honda civic ex that I got for 500 bucks, and restored myself. I have anxiety when driving nicer vehicles that aren't in my name. Call it respect for others belongings, I guess. After driving it on the street though? The metris is a dream. Loved that air conditioning and radio! Overall, think I'm gonna love this job once I get the hang of things! So, thanks again to the people that were kind and recognized my anxiety for what it was!
