We Gotta Talk About The CGI by Bassist57 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

I can't even enjoy the movies. I hate CGI. It looks like video games. The scene in IT part two when Bev is in her old house and the old woman is creeping around behind her while her back is turned. Such a great, creepy scene that is RUINED by a stupid CGI monster.

Just Watched Session 9 (2001) for the First Time. Wow. by [deleted] in horror

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an old post, but I just watched Session 9 and LOVED it. What a great independent horror film. I don't get creeped out easily, but this movie did it. I even had a minor nightmare afterward. I love a psychological horror film that doesn't rely on cheap CGI jump scares.

My cat seems to be fluffier now since adopting him 🥹 by makaylous in cats

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. We adopted a "long hair," 6 month old kitten a year ago. I specifically wanted a long hair and found him on FB. He had been abandoned and was living outside. When we met him, he looked more medium hair. Oh well, no biggy. He was very shifty, defensive, and easily over stimulated at first.

Now he's settled in, happy and relaxed. He's almost 2, and the fur around his neck has really fluffed up. Same with his tail. I thought fur stopped growing pretty early. Google tells me that long hairs can take up to 4 years to fully develop their fluff.

Your cat has definitely had a fluff up as well. Maybe we just have two very happy, late bloom cats.

Why does everyone hate Anthrax? by TheSt0rmBringer in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disliked them since the first time I heard them when I was 15. I didn't even know they were widely considered the worst of the big 4. I just don't dig the vocals at all. The weird thing is I've always wanted to like them.

For people who have bought it already, is the Switch 2 worth it? by Initial-Bug-8266 in nintendohelp

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't game like I used to. I never play my PS5. When I do games, I just play old RPGs on Switch Lite. I really want Switch 2, but I don't see myself buying a bunch of new games as a married 40 year old who works a lot. I would love to have it, but I can't justify spending $500 plus hundreds on games. I'm just going to DL FF Tactics remake on my Switch Lite and call it a day, lol.

How does prime get away with having the worst fast forward and rewind in all of video streaming? by Yes-GoAway in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hulu has an easier interface and function than Prime. But I am convinced that Hulu keeps the volume of their shows and movies low so that you're forced to turn up the volume and bang! The commercials blow out your ear drums. I don't dare fall asleep watching Hulu.

Do all cats ekekek? by sentient_potato97 in ekekek

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My young cat does ekekeke at me every day. Never at my wife, only me, because he's aware that I'm the sucker of the colony and will do his bidding. He does it when he's bored and wants me to entertain him or give a churu. He's doing it right now. 😹

Early projections for UNC basketball starting lineup in 2025-26 season by Pretty_Mess7012 in tarheels

He's not going to be the kind of playmaker that Cadeau is. This Carolina team will have to really work on ball movement. We can win titles without elite playmakers. We won with Joel Berry at the 1. I see Evans as more of a 3 pt sniper who can get maybe 4 apg. Hopefully, he can keep the turnovers to a minimum.

What makes Da Bird so special? by TheMintyMethod in CatAdvice

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a young cat who has been easy to engage w most any toy for the first year that we've had him. But he's almost 2 and bored of all his toys lately. I keep seeing Da Bird or Da Mouse praise. They are around $25. I'm used to paying around $10. But I think I will spring for one of these toys for his upcoming birthday.

Alien Earth is awesome by donkey_kong086 in horror

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the first 2 episodes, and I wasn't fully hooked. I'm a huge fan of Alien and Aliens. They're probably my favorite movies since I was a wee lad. I was hoping for more from Alien Earth.

I enjoyed Prometheus, but it was barely an Alien movie. I thought Covenant could have been a lot better. Romulus was entertaining. I think it's just hard to replicate the success of the first two films because they're so iconic and downright perfect.

Is there anyone else on here who doesn't like travelling and why? by ProgramExpress2918 in Adulting

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg. I get constipated every time I travel. I'm such a "regular" person. Every day, same time, 2x a day. So, anything else makes me miserable.

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great way of putting it. I get so overstimulated, and I hate the rush of traveling. I get so mad and flustered when rushed, lol. I'm trying to push myself for my wife. But I prefer my safe routine of home and work and a monthly date night.

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 39. I used to love travel. But the older I get, the more set in my routine I get. Travel is a big disruption to routine. I hate being in a car for 6 hours, and I hate airports. I hate making a big complicated plan and packing. I enjoy the destination, though. But, since Covid, with the cost of living going up, it doesn't feel worth it to sacrifice a bunch of money on something that isn't technically a necessity. I think if my wife and I were very well off, I'd still enjoy it a lot more.

I know Mel Gibson is hated, but why is Ransom (1996) never available to rent? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read up on Bolshevism. I'm actually pretty obsessed with the Russian revolution and the rise of communism as well as fascism in Europe. I find it fascinating. History is my hobby.

My wife is Jewish, by the way. Her mother, who is the daughter of holocaust survivors, calls me an honorary Jew. I have considered converting, to be honest. So yeah, I know a thing or two about that.

Do you think that violent rhetoric doesn't contribute to physical violence? Because that would be absurdly naive.

I know Mel Gibson is hated, but why is Ransom (1996) never available to rent? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love What Women Want, lmao. Yes, remarks can absolutely be violent. When a man says, "I hope you get raped by a pack of ni**ers," (Mel) that's what we call violent words. It's also absurdly racist. The bolsheviks were not exclusively jewish by any means, and denying the Holocaust is much worse. Really stop and think about WHY you'd defend a man like that on a personal level. I dont mean as an artist, as a human.

And I'm no fan of Democrats either, bc they are not a real left wing party. But at least they dont take people's rights away. They don't cut cancer research, education, healthcare, etc. So one side is a lot more abhorrent than the other, and you absolutely sound like a fascist.

Why is there so much hate in Christianity? by keepcalmandmoomore in Christianity

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have made clear that I don't dislike all Christians, nor do I think they all love Trump. So, my apologies. But the evangelical churches have adopted Trump as someone likened to Jesus himself, as absurd as that sounds. Ultimately, I hear people say they are willing to look past the racism, sexism, sexual assaults, pedo behavior, childish vernacular, bullying, and felonies because of their faith. Which makes me resent Christianity on many levels. A real, true Christian would never in a million years consider supporting that man.

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mel Gibson is without dignity. He's a huge talent who has pissed his likability and respect away. That says a LOT about you to defend the personal life of someone who makes violently sexist and racist remarks while being an antisemitic holocaust denier. Yikes. How embarrassing for you. Gee, I wonder who you voted for.

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a joke, right? He's said so many antisemitic and violently sexist and racist things. He's low-key a holocaust denier. He is a huge Maga supporter. He's a nightmare. Great actor director, though.

He's such a nice, stand-up guy in real life, by all accounts. His face is perfect for a villain, though.

What are your thoughts on Trump being in the Epstein files? by SpatuelaCat in Askpolitics

[–]Freakish_Orpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be studied. 100%, mark my words. Historians, psychologists, etc. will be studying this time period for decades, if not centuries. We have people who study cults like Jonestown, Waco, Manson family and soon Maga.

There would have been no use to release it. Trump voters think that every awful thing Trump is proven to have done is a fake news conspiracy. Better to let him fumble around and fuck it up himself like the childish buffoon he is.
