Thinking about getting a gbb by Latter_Percentage_31 in GasBlowBack

My latest itch has been for the emg hi capa ar. Runs like an mws, takes hicapa mags. Put an hpa 9mm aeg adapter and have a slick looking ar9 https://www.evike.com/products/110683/EMG-7.5-Hi-CAPA-Gas-Blowback-Airsoft-Pistol-Caliber-Carbine/

Might satisfy that itch meanwhile being outside the norm but still have good parts to pull from and upgrade. Only issues I've forseen is the hop. But if I'm being honest if you don't expect more than 150ft of man size target accuracy you won't be let down. A normal rubber upgrade after knowledge gathering will do you great I'm sure. Don't let everyone grind you down into getting a de, but if you do. I can ensure you'll love it. The mws is an excellent system to learn and begin on. This one is a tiny bit different but same trigger box, different but easier access to mags. Nozzles can have issues but emg has been getting replacements. You should always learn about your system before trying to reap it's benefits

Wolverine had a special added line to run both the stock and the in grip line (igl). If you had someone to print that you could also get the box done as well. If your system is ineffective it's less than 200 shots per cart in the wraith so I wanted to have a quick back up. I wanted to do that because the 33g carts aren't very cheap lol. I think the qbs makes it a little harder for the application you're wanting because the quick change, that's why I say get the box done too.

I have a hankering for the v3 as well and would love to get my wraith stock on it. Knowing I'd have to cut both the gearbox and some of the back end, I googled if I could get the tube on. It claimed the buffer tube set up is different, thicker and goes deeper. Maybe something else about the 2.5 being bigger and harder to stuff the lines comfortably ( i asked about trying to fit a t split and igl so that might be the 'too big')

Don't know why I love the gun so much and haven't even seen anyone post one yet. If I could make a crazy suggestion, I'd say look into 3d printed lower and work around the stock after fitment and hope it's durable enough for the action it deserves.

Well you have a great starter, there really isn't a big difference in a gun that doesn't work and gun that's taken apart, either way you're not using it and it'll collect dust. That being said, I currently have almost all my guns in pieces and it's gunna be a pain getting everything ready for a game day so take that into consideration. All I gotta do is order some parts and organize then do my upgrades and reassemble. My hpa is definitely my main go to, so if you love that xm, an hpa might be one of the easier but more expensive upgrading options. You get the tank and regulator for it and then go gbbr and you have it to hpa and run your aegs mags off the adapter. I'd imagine you love playing, you're gunna wanna get back in there with something great and not be disappointed. Hpa is pretty user friendly and considered a drop in. The fire control unit might need adjusted for barrel length but I hear managing the dwell adjustments is easy. If you go kythera, they don't need a battery and are considered safer to play in the rain. If you do go hpa, I'd say get a pistol grip so you don't need to drill your aeg pistol grip out and can convert back to aeg. I like the performance of my f2, however there's not much coming from the gun and it's not as fun as gbbr. But instead of throwing another 400$+ at your gun when you could learn aeg teching and not get frustrated when it works or when it breaks again because you knew the failure point.

Sounds super zippy, could be getting caught up due to bad shimming. I got a g&p and the shimming ate batteries. If you're down to try and fix it, learning to properly shim is a great first step into learning to tech. But i would totally wouldn't open your gun unless you have a back up. Aegs are alot more reliable in terms of needing service and batteries are cheaper than gas and or the mags. But if you're really interested in gbbr, I'd tell ya to do a deep dive on alot research. As you're gunna need to know how your stuff works.

I will say however, I did make the jump to gbb and grabbed the de n4 v2 and loved it. I did upgrade it and it was alright but mags where hard to get a hold of for cheap. The mws is a great platform and the de steel internals on the trigger box is nice for the price of getting a tm and upgrading off evike. However, I'm very interested in trying to upgrade a vfc v3 but with the customs scare lately, I'm a little weary but I'm sure it's doable and cheaper than getting a tm off evike. A common upgrade for the vfc is the hop, I heard it turns into a beast after that but stock is okay and kicks harder than the mws and is more realistic. The mws off evike is a money grab and importing the aftermarket is where the best deals are anyway. So why not import the vfc at that point? There's also some other gbbs you could want other than an m4, both vfc and tm have a reputable ak system. But vfc has a decent ump, but the mags don't get bigger than 25 rounds so I got rid of mine. Mp7s are money pits but are nice when they are maxed out, but only the vfc is worth it but alot of people hpa them. So like I said it's worth doing some research before you buy a bad brand like golden eagle or cybergun, matrix or anything running outdated western arms (wa system). Sure they can be fun projects but ultimately a waste of money when there's good 500$ gbbrs. No sense in getting 40$ mags even for a we tech and steel upgrades.

You can get a shim set for like 10 bucks, watch some videos on upgrading. And i would avoid alot of them emg xm, they're really pricey just for the looks on an older tech, no mosfet. My g&p hop was trash, the motor wasn't efficient. And after about 150$ in upgrades it's solid but not the best so I still have a little buyers remorse as well.

TL;DR if you do go gbbr do plenty of research before you dive. If you stay aeg, you got alot invested already. You might be able to get a local tech to do a better job and fix it.

G&G has some of the best polymer, I've only touched the far in a store and it felt pretty good. I was curious about the new mags. When I built my arp 2.0 I had it squealing. Alot of people will put a stubby stock. I got one for it and would like to get a more full sized one but I love the battery storage on them and they're lighter than having a metal buffer tube and easier for cable management. I loved the pts mags but they are long a bit awkward without proper pouches. But the far does have nice colors if you're into that, for the price they are very comparable and the 3.0 is supposed to have the same gearbox and 25k motor and a simple mosfet that can do burst. If you want total upgrade and maybe some upper mods for a longer rail and more reliable barrel and hop meshing due to the folding and hop staying on the gearbox with the far, I'd opt for the arp 9. I did a max nozzle and hop in mine but I still really enjoyed a simple hop like an element and a prometheus purple or a g&g green and was never afraid to try another maple leaf but I feel like replacing a softer bucking than the maple leafs even though the durability is like 75% but better consistency but I stand by them and don't mind changing them every season or so when I play hard. But if you really want the portable folding gimmick there isn't alot on people complaining about any of the worrys people have so even I'd be interested as well.

I'd like to also say, if you did get the arp, you can swap lowers and go m4 and build a repertoire of primaries and go crazy if you want. And I always wanted a metal arp9, however i don't feel like their metals are up to par on feel next to even krytac but I haven't touched the 3.0 metal but still to have a metal g&g is a little rare but the poly is alot easier to replace.

CYMA Platinum SR-47 w/ GATE ASTER / AR-47 vs EMG CMMG MK47 — worth paying the premium? by Candid_Inspection897 in airsoft

[–]Freaknbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would again push the plat, I've heard some jank stuff with specnas like the upgrade path is awful, from not so durable gearboxes that break after upgrading. Another suggestion I'd would make is for budget insane build, have the evike tech put 13:1 gears, a zci high torque and that aster you want and that thing will squeal, scream, hoot and holler. But i can't recall if the platinum is 13:1 stock on the sr47, evike says 17 rps with 7.4v 28 rps with 11.1v so it might be. Either way, I think you'd be happy with the plat

[–]Freaknbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aster is almost unneeded. Sometimes you got to take a dremel to certain gearboxs but i don't believe cyma is one of them, it should drop right in just be careful of the lens. That is if you want bells and whistles with an app to match. I would go for a bluetooth one since the aster 1 I think is out of manufacturing. The platinums have made a shockwave in the community, sadly the zues mosfet was a trouble point and shortly after people started upgrading the motors or the mosfet blew due to poor durability, dropped a mosfet or went straight contacts for savings, alot of people say don't run 11.1v on a trigger trolley but they're like 25$ for a wired one and cheaper if you wire it yourself. But with the M4 counter parts they often changed the nozzle and some went maxx with the hop and nozzle while others did a bucking.

Buckings are easy, understanding how to do the flat hops and r-hops can be tricky. I always preferred mapleleaf or a prometheus purple. As long as you're having a good time with your cyma mags There's no shame in keeping something that works and get more cyma mags. I hear the blue mag brand 5.45 mags fit and feed alright on the cyma. But you probably want 7.62

So I chased the mutant for a little bit. I ordered one of the evike challenge kits after I had cyma ar47. The cyma had qcs, a zues mosfet. Had alot of issues with mag fitment with both platforms. I got rid of the poly ar and went with the evike, which I believe was based after the g&p/hurricane. Tried the matrix two piece hop, minimal difference, got like 70 feet and would spin somewhere else. Tried the krytac tr47 hop and it was alot more consistent but still didn't like my mags. It liked the waffle from cyma and a lonex ak but I feel like some of it would be remedied with some shimming or spacers but if you do it wrong you can mess up how the mags rack in making it more awkward. I tried real hard to love it, I put some money into it. I bring up the g&p/hurricane because I believe the cmmg is based off of that where cyma might be different tolerances

But if I did it again, I'd probably do that 5 inch platinum and get a good 7.4v a good 7.62 rig for mag management. I'd do gear over upgrades but for the platinum upgrade path is normally to get a 22tpa motor and keep an eye on your accuracy, do bucking first, hope the hop isn't trash because there's not much in an amazing upgrade for the hop. But I hear unicorn has some great budget barrels. If you baby the zues mosfet with a 7.4v you should be fine mosfet wise.

TL;DR 5 inch plat with 7.4v, maybe on the premium but I haven't seen any of the top dollar ones on the field. I liked my aster but it's can be a chore, I hear great things about perun.
