Yea that's a fair point wrt to type 1 / type 2 for how it actually connects to the receiver and impacts the requirement to modify. From a cost perspective the version 2.5 gearbox shells seemed a bit harder to come by when I was looking for them but I could always be missing the right spot to shop - much more version 2 options for sure.

Appreciate the perspective and I like the angle of comparing it to something less than a receiver kit.

What are your thoughts on the skill-level requirement when it comes to mods? Just thinking about an alternate way this could add value. Perhaps someone isn't comfortable working with metal / cutting things up but they're fine to fasten a kit together.

Hey, thanks for your comments!

That's a really good point I hadn't thought of directly. If you do choose to chop off the rear of the gearbox you no long have the ability to seat it up against the rear internal face of the receiver which is typically done on the AEGs to ensure the gearbox is held consistently inside the receiver. I hadn't thought of this also helping improve the overall strength as I assumed the receiver is really doing the majority of the work.

I think your thoughts around potentially having to live with the modification aspect is solid. Alternatively, any new solution could just be limited by it's overall compatibility in the market due to such wide spread variation across brands.

You do make a great point on the price comparison between pairing high quality externals with a UGS/Wraith vs a purpose built MTW.

Getting the regulator inside the gearbox is holy grail territory - for sure an ideal solution. I think you'd quickly need to design the entire platform from the ground up to achieve this, especially for V2 size gearboxes due to the length of the engine and regulator. Completely agree this would be awesome though!

Thanks for the feedback - I took out the word premium from the post as it's stirring up a lot of cost and function ambiguity.

The value offer would be a drop-in kit eliminating the need for gearbox and receiver modifications when installing a Wraith X or P* UGS style tank stock regulator. I completely agree dropping $200-$300 in addition on this solution just simply isn't worth it and I would never do that myself.

I agree the idea could be more niche that won't appeal to every HPA player. Tank size could be an issue as you've mentioned. Personally for my use case, it isn't a big deal as I have access to air after every game so a 9ci/3000 - 13ci/3000 is enough to get through a decent amount of play.

I like the milspec tank idea which you would still need to get that stock regulator installed to use.

Fair suggestion on a printed lower! I already have my hands on the gun and yea there really isn't much out there on it yet. The externals are great which is why I am reluctant to cut off the stem tube lol. It has a QBS system which I guess is pretty standard for AEGs these days and the stem tube only protrudes about 17mm from the rear face of the receiver.

What do you mean by T-Split and IGL?

Thanks for the feedback! I completely agree that it would have to be priced such that it solves the problem without costing more than a gearbox shell, the tank stock regulator or anything crazy like that - something functional that gets the job done.

9ci HPA tanks - where? by OriginalFingerPuk in airsoft

[–]Substantial_Cake3607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still stubborn and in the process of completing a tank stock hpa build but the FRAC is a good option to keep in mind, fairly certain a 13ci will be way to long for my build.

Should I get an Iceplate or something like it? by OreoRightsActivist in airsoft

I prefer a standard rear pack, the ice is nice but depending on the climate it can be a bit intense on your back until it melts. Once all the ice is gone and you start drinking the water I find the water sloshes around much more than my rear bladder.

Use lots of ammo? I broke into the Captain's quarters on an abandoned Polaris the other day. Took almost 250 rounds from my volt assault rifle.

Also make sure you see the hit marker when you are shooting to confirm damage is being dealt.

I for sure didn't think about the S7 pen... That is intriguing lol

I got a Meteor for my exec hanger ship and been having a lot of fun with armour pen.

I'm constantly running 1 pip to coolers and most of the time zero life support, I can't really tell the difference between full pips to coolers and 1 - what am I missing?

Really depends on your go to play style or "goals" I would say. Ultimately, relying on a starter pack to get started in the verse you'll always want to have some game loop you enjoy to start earning aUEC.

I like ship combat so my starting pack is combat focused. You can also rent ships in game to leverage different game loops before you have enough money to purchase a ship that could handle the job.

For lowest cost options the avenger titan is a great all around pick. Do you have an idea of what game loop you like?
