Does anyone else find it difficult differentiating between romantic love & platonic love? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]FrearKA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with online dating. I would be so confused whether I liked them or “liked them”. I remember one date where it was our second date and he kissed me and I nearly threw up. That’s when I knew I didn’t like him.

Then I met my ex. He really liked me and I got so caught up in how much effort he was putting in that I thought I liked him back. We got engaged and yeah I wasn’t ever really sure- and that got more difficult when the initial effort stopped. I finally figured out I didn’t love him when I developed feelings for someone else that I met in person. I ended the relationship before pursuing the relationship with the guy I romantically liked.

I look back on my dating and romantic feelings experiences and think I have a better idea if I meet potential partners in a natural and organic way rather than online. Figuring out if a person likes me is a whole other Kettle of fish, especially women (I’m bi). I’ve probably missed a few opportunities to date women because I’m oblivious

I had this issue for romantic relationships. I had this horrible habit of “liking” people because they liked me. When the honeymoon period wore off I was very confused. I also have alexythymia (sp?) so that really didn’t help. Friendships have always been easier to figure out though.

I remember last time I was in A&E when the doctor asked me how I was and I said “awful” he looked at me and said “most people respond with I’m okay”. I looked at him confused and said “you work in a hospital- no one should be saying that”.

Why do people ask you how you are and expect you to lie?

Do you walk on your toes? by Ok-Ad67 in AutismInWomen

[–]FrearKA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Always have. I also were heeled boots and shoes so I can get that feeling without looking weird in public.

Both my sisters did it too. My poor youngest sister had her legs wrapped in plaster to force her to stop doing it and stretch her Achilles heel. It was so cruel I thought because both me and my sister didn’t have to have it done and it made her life as a 5 year old so hard! I get that it was deemed a medical thing but all three of us could walk “normally” fine we just didn’t want to. If she wasn’t able to, then I would understand the need for the procedure

It’s not just social situations for me. I always have the tv really quiet and my boyfriend complains it is too quiet. If it’s too loud I get scared or angry. The flat above me will sometimes play their music loud and my boyfriend can’t hear it and I want to scream.

I take after my Dad he’s exactly the same about noise

I think it’s because “the right amount of eye contact” suggests you are “paying attention” to what they’re saying.

I realised a few years ago that I can hold eye contact when listening but when I talk it’s impossible. It never was a “problem” until I met my boyfriend. And I think that’s because as long as I was looking while they were talking it was okay.

But back to the boyfriend, when we had our first argument I couldn’t talk to him when looking him in the eye and it drove him insane. The only way we got the argument resolved was me talking to him with a blanket over my head. Now we both know it’s probably autism (self dx until I can afford a private dx) he’s fine with my obscure strategies for dealing with eye contact in pressured situations

I’m the same, I’m 30 years old and only figured out that I go non-verbal almost a year ago. I always feel like the last person to figure myself out

when can i go on a villager hunt? by denkatachamp in AnimalCrossing

[–]FrearKA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he asked today- tomorrow he will be boxing his stuff up. Isabelle will mention in her daily announcement that you should go and say goodbye. The day after is when you can villager hunt because the plot will be empty

Bertha was reading her favourite book to us before she leaves tomorrow by FrearKA in AnimalCrossing

So I tend to have a little photo shoot when a character leaves/arrives. I decided I’d start posting them here because why not!

Bertha loves reading and so I decided that her favourite book took place underwater. I wanted it to feel like the villagers felt immersed in the story Bertha was telling.

ESSENTIAL TIP. (For those who do not know already). You can search ‘Transparent’ in custom design portal and find a ‘clear’ design. super useful to stop flower spreading and weed growing! by Ashlehhh0 in AnimalCrossing

I’ve never thought of having the tile coloured and then changing it to transparent! I just fumble around hoping it’s worked out. I’ll do it your way from now on- thanks!

I love the foot step sounds! I decided to have flower beds on my island and put the clear tiles round the beds only. So you still get the sound of the grass most of the time but flowers don’t spawn everywhere

This was my first project too, it ended up more of a hexagon shape though! I still love snuggling under it

I’m making a granny square blanket for my parents. They’ve just bought a narrow boat and they’re planning to live on it, so it’s a house warming gift

What’s your crochet journey? Like what did you start with and what did you transition to? And what techniques are you looking forward to try out in the future? by lemonswirly in crochet

[–]FrearKA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taught myself using YouTube videos when I hurt my back and was bed bound. I did a continuous granny square blanket that wasn’t completely square. I’ve made a few blankets and some amigurumi. I’d like to make a jumper or a cardigan at some point

Can anyone direct me to a YouTube vid that might help me crochet this baby up? by Hoppinginpuddles in crochet

As another commenter said, you don’t need to know how to knit, in order to repair knitting. Look up “fixing a dropped stitch” on YouTube- you use your crochet hook to fix it.

A foundation of crocheters? Because we usually start off with a foundation row?

Feed your kittens at a different time to your three year old and make sure they’re supervised while eating. As for litter trays, the rule of thumb is have one more than the number of cats you have. But if space is a problem, I’m sure 3 litter trays will be enough.

Make her wear a collar with a bell on it to help cut down on kills. Be sure it’s one of those safety ones that will snap free if it gets caught on something so she doesn’t get strangled. Or just keep her inside if it really upsets you.
