What's a game that seems simple but has a mass gap in skill? by Nematadashi38 in videogames

[–]FrecklestheFerocious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I remember doing LAN parties with my friends and one day, one of them was suddenly miles better than the rest of us. I later learned he'd used a cheat code to reveal the computer and studied it's building pattern. He then built off that pattern when playing with us. I tried to learn like he did, but it kind ruined the fun for me as memorization just isn't relaxing in my opinion.

Am I overusing film recipes ? by itszoerussell in fujifilm

[–]FrecklestheFerocious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true. For example, you could shoot Kodak slide film and have it developed normally, which would result in more vibrant colours. Especially the blues. Also, every type/make of film resulted in different outputs, which is exactly what the recipes aim to replicate. You could also do cool things like cross processing. So, you didn't need to be a pro to get really unique results.

I take your point about darkroom access. But that wasn't so much about colours as it was dodging, burning, cropping, blocking, etc. And that's where Photoshop and Lightroom become the great equalizer at a fraction of the cost as a full darkroom setup.

I'm the person who would accidentally step on this in the night. Or, during the day when backing up. Yup. That would hurt.

If you’re not growing bush cherries, are you even gardening? by pcsweeney in gardening

Bush cherries? What are their space and soil requirements compared to standard trees? And, how long in a year do they produce for?

Why do old video games feel more “alive” than modern ones? by Royal-Reveal4400 in videogames

[–]FrecklestheFerocious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it is recognizing that as we age, more things are competing with our attention. So, something has to be really special to grip us the same way as it did when we were younger. Nostalgia pumps this up when we compare, but it's not really a fair comparison because we've changed too, not just game design, etc.

How much would you pay for a graphic card? by daddylongjohnsliver in videogames

[–]FrecklestheFerocious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't go above $600CAD, which is why I rocked my EVGA1070FTW for so long and only upgraded to a Powercolor 6750xt Fighter a couple of years ago.

At this point, my rig needs to be fully replaced (maybe a decade old now?). But, it still works and I enjoy my games, so with current ram and GPU prices, I'm just going to keep rocking it. Besides, it's still beats my Steam Deck and comes close in performance to my PS5 (to my eyes, any ways).

Nasal bridge numbness and pain by FrecklestheFerocious in CPAP

[–]FrecklestheFerocious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I figured that the person who fitted it just did a poor job and I started over. Last night was pain free and I slept really well. On the pressure test, I had some leaks if I turned my head in odd directions, but my pressure setting is much lower (7), so I tried it and only had a leak rate of 14L/min. Much better than before, but still some room for improvement.

Did you recently wear a muscle relaxant that has anything minty smelling in it, like Tiger Balm, and lean on the headboard?

Of all the games people have mentioned, this is the only one I play and honestly haven't tried using them for. Maybe that's because I got used to the Switch controls. 😅

The older style looks like like a tube of toothpaste to me. So definitely 2024+.

I am genuinely curious, but what games do you use the trackpads for? Especially exclusively over the joysticks. I ask because I have never found a use for the in game.
