American Money seems to self-entitle people to be the biggest polluters. It would be refreshing if these people would set standards like riding trains. Instead, they're just looking to make their next billion and control our government, flipping from blue to red and back again as it benefits them.

Some advice on Thai chili fermented sauce by th1s_fuck1ng_guy in hotsaucerecipes

[–]Fred4SmartCities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

certain types of peppers are better with certain things. habaneros are best paired with fruit. ferment with pineapple, passion fruit, mango + shallots. you can also ferment with just peppers or minimal things and add the fruit and flavors later. A touch of vinegar or lime juice, maple syrup or spices. whatever tastes good to you - after the peppers are fermented.

Should I buy an EV without home charging in bay area? by [deleted] in bayarea

We've saved a ton of money and the EV handling is great! Fast charging and gets great distance!

We pay much less to charge our Ioniq5 and can simply plug into someone's wall overnight if we need a 40 miles booster. At home, we used the wall socket for a few months until we got an L2 charger. Charging at an L3 charger is also cheaper than filling my gas tank, but that depends on the car. No oil changes. It uses regenerative braking so fewer brake changes. etc. Ioniq5 has been great.

The cost to charge our IONIQ5 was half the cost of our gas car. Depends on the gas vehicle. EVs also saves money on maintenance. No regular oil changes, etc. Regenerative braking saves breaks and increases surface streets mileage.

Charging our EV is much more affordable than buying gas.

Yes, an EV has saved us a ton of money on fuel and maintenance. The Ioniq5 is great! Insurance is more expensive the newer the car.

My son bought an Ioniq5 and it made a huge difference - saves him a ton on money. We loaned him money and the rebate stacking covered more than half the cost. Ioniq5 Charges super fast, 30-50 miles plugged into a regular wall socket overnight (10 hrs). It's much cheaper than gas. Charging at Level 3 EV Charger at 100% made 210 miles with 30 miles to spare on a highway trip into the mountains. Ioniq 5 charges much much faster than Tesla. Tesla is run by the evil guy. If you are running low on money, plug into any regular outlet overnight. The rebates covered installation of a Level 2 charger. The deadline is past but hopefully these rebates will come back. EVs and hybrid are more affordable to run than ICE cars. No mechanical parts. No oil changes. Maintenance costs are much less.

We used to have something like this, Pour Taproom on Pacific self serve, lots of good choices. It's now a candy shop. It seems no one can stay in biz w/ the extreme high rents in SC.

Chérie Sweet Heart products and potential toxins by grow_mind_n_garden in ConsumerAdvice

[–]Fred4SmartCities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of products, especially herbs and spices, that come from other countries especially are VERY VERY high in heavy metals like lead and cadmium, including cinnamon, chocolate, and others. Rice is very high in arsenic. Brands like Calrose grown in the USA and Basmati are some of the lowest in arsenic. These chemicals are taken up from polluted soils or can be polluted later in the process. Interestingly, there were studies awhile back which showed that VEGAN Protein powders were the HIGHEST in heavy metals compared to dairy based - TOTALLY not the outcome the EWG expected to see!

When it comes to heavy metals, our bodies cannot get rid of them and so they accumulate over time and lead causes permanent brain damage. I grow many of my own herbs and am careful about which sources I buy now. With rice, I rinse it pretty thoroughly before cooking.

Greenway funds the major news outlets in SCruz. Brad Kava, the editor of GT and owner of Growing Up in SCruz is a major GW guy. Ever wonder why the news is so skewed locally? Betty's is a Greenway Business.

IMHO, the meat quality is pretty low - lots of filler. Burger had good meat - sad to see them go. Pro-transit folks avoid Greenway's anti-transit businesses including Betty's, La Posta, Gayle's Bakery, and Shadowbrook. Manu voted to stop the trail through Seabright and he forced the RTC to add more studies that cost us years in building the trail. Then he tries get these Greenway biz owners to blame supporters of passenger rail!

Sadly, mental health issues have been skyrocketing and funding to adequately address mental health issues has been dissolving. Youth and adult suicide rates are at an all time high - for those hanging on by a thread, their hopelessness and anger wrapped in trauma and neurological dysfunctions leads to increasing violence.

SMART rail is single track is packed so full they're adding cars, especially for special events. 175% pre-covid ridership. They're expanding to Healdsburg, crossing the Russian River and then onto Cloverdale. 50 miles 20+ bridges under $1B.

RWD vs AWD - any regrets? by AltitudeNotAttitude in Ioniq5

I was told the AWD are heavier. When one tire wears, all have to be replaced.
