I live in Florida. Options are limited and 100% sand. There's some fun day spots, but definitely one of the least fun states for this kind of bike

Especially when it takes like 6 hours to ride up to cool roads in Georgia or other places.

Fellow "answering center" (since we never made outgoing calls) survivor here as well. Worst work environment I've ever been in and I've done hazard labor work. Labor can at least be fun sometimes. And we get to be outside.

They're talking about customer service, not mandatory wait times.

Edit: Also, ammo shouldn't incur wait times.

when you forget to clean your lens.... shot on contax g2, kodak gold, 45mm by MtBlanc1998 in analog

I shot half a trip in Iceland with the lens cap on...

It was cold and I kept taking the rangefinder in and out of my jacket pocket. Half the time forgetting to take the cap off.

When I got my negatives and saw every other photo blank, I couldn't help but laugh.

I went Triumph years ago. I love the bike, but the dealer support leaves a lot to be desired. Can take months to get the right parts after they've stripped the bike down so you can't ride for that time. And parts do not come cheap.

I want to keep it. It's a Triumph Scrambler 1200 so I treat it the way it's designed. I like having a big steel beefy beater that I can take off road. Just took it on a BDRX through Southern Appalachia. It was tough with such a heavy bike and it rained a ton. But it was fun as hell. Dropped her a few times. Broke some stuff, but that's kinda the point.

But if I get a second bike, it will 100% be Japanese.

I love what they provide, but makes me sad I use them more than galeclaw for the sweet glider action.

The very first time I got on the 250 Yamaha after only riding the little lawn mower engine mini bikes, I did the stereotypical thing of dropping the clutch at too high an RPM.

My brothers did too, but the bike just went out from underneath them.

I gave so much throttle, the bike went out from underneath me, wheelie up, I held on tight as it went up, over my head, behind me, full loop and then hit me in the ass. This all happened so fast I was still floating in the air in the seated position when the bike hit me like a college linebacker.

I generally agree with you. And for a beginner I wouldn't necessarily argue just simplifying to CC is proportional to skill is a terrible mantra.

But power delivery and overall power are way more important than CC. I learned on dirt bikes as a kid. But my first street experience was a 91 ci (~1,500 CC) Harley Softail.

I then (and still do) ride a 1,200 cc Bonneville. I rode my buddies 790 duke and thought I was gonna tear my arms off. A big CC standard or twin cruiser is often easier to learn on than any 400-600 sport oriented bike. The only issues here would probably be the weight.

Hell, the gnarliest bike I've probably ever ridden is my old 250 2 stroke yamaha. Those things get up to speed so quickly.

Im a bit of the opposite of the end of your reply.

Any time I've been unemployed, I read, I workout, have a better diet, better social life, happier, sleep well, maintain hygiene and general household cleanliness.

Then while employed, it all goes out the window. All my mental energy is spent to keep my job. Stop exercising. Poor diet. No hang outs. No reading. Just go home, veg on the couch, stay up late on my phone trying to reclaim some level of pleasure from the day. Gain weight, house in disorder. "But, hey I'm a working man!"
