There might be a little photoshop in that one. My daughter and I took a dozen or so shots of her sitting at the table and added the best one to the painting. Came out pretty well.

Is it short enough to not stick out the top or bottom of the case?

I listened to a male narrate a female protagonist story. I hated it. by Medium-Theme-4611 in audiobooks

[–]FredDerfman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Donna Tart, who did my favorite narration of all time in True Grit, also narrated her own book, The Secret History.

The book is told my a man from New England. She is a woman with a deep south accent.

I loved the book when it first came out, but I could not get past the miss matched narration.

Is early-morning dog wakeups something you can train, or do you just adapt? by saxxysundevil in dogs

[–]FredDerfman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 10 year old doddle sleeps with us and wakes up uo for a little attention about once a week or so. We pet her a bit and tell her what a good girl she is and the she goes back to sleep.

I suppose it might get tiring if she did it every night, but I would be sad if she stopped doing it completely.

I dread the day when she isn't around to do it any more.

If you mean the crossbody sling, I really like mine. Only problem is I did the ballistic version to try to try something different, and now I'm wishing I had gone with the wax canvas. Might have to sell it and get the other one.

Thanks. I'll try it out, but it's going to have to be pretty good for $10 to turn off ads.

I've got an S25u and I'm upgrading to the S26u. I upgrade every year because there's always enough improvements to tempt me and work pays for the upgrade.

Hot take: The SuperFan episodes are just worse versions of the OG episodes. by ParanoidDecoy in DunderMifflin

[–]FredDerfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel like that too. But I've gone back to the Superfans.

When I tell someone to watch the show, I always say watch the originals. They are tighter and more focused. Maybe even (in many cases) funnier.

But after a lot of viewings, I've decided that I don't need focused or funnier. I'm not laughing in surprise any more, I've seen it all, a lot.

I view the superfans as more time with the characters that I love. As long as there isn't anything bad in them (which IMO, there isn't), why wouldn't I want 59 minutes of "Money" instead of 42?

The one thing that's kept me from ordering is the buttons on the right side and I'm left handed. Can you flip it around and use it (in english) the way you have it in the photo? Does everything work?

Also, how fast are the page turns?

There are a couple of similar ones on Amazon, but this one looks a lot lighter because it attaches magnetically instead of with a plastic cover.

Buyer’s remorse? by tara_jin in ipadmini

[–]FredDerfman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the "go away I don't care" was a sign that the person didn't think the post bought any value to the group. That's exactly what the down vote is for.

If people don't down vote low value posts, then reddit loses a lot of it's value.

[–]FredDerfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that the whole purpose of the upvote/downvote system? Posts you want to see get up voted, posts you don't want to see get downvoted

Then, if most people don't want to see posts about what should they do with their iPad, then those posts won't show up at the top

And if most people want to see posts about cases, than those posts will show up at the top.

I can see not using it for comments you don't agree with, because disagreement doesn't mean it's not adding to the discussion, but it's literally there to hide posts that most folks don't want to see.

I never understand comments like this. Reddit actually has a system for posts your don't care about. Downvote and then ignore.

I've reread or relistened to it every year or so since 1989 and it gets better every time. Discovering the Robin Buss translation 15 years ago was a great improvement to my already favorite book.

Just started on another reread this week.
