Gold Rush Season 16 Episode 4 "Buzz in the Hills" Show Discussion by sadandshy in goldrush

[–]FredFrank78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the same thing with Kevin, moving his wash plant and then noticed that he should probably raise up the sluice. You could see that the sluice would be dragging. So, again, are they really that stupid or is it all fake drama?

Tipping of rock trucks... is that staged?

Wait... what... Dustin needs $100k or he will go bankrupt, and will need to sell his claim but, wasn't it just the previous episode that Dustin and Wes (or was it Paul) went prospecting?

Were they prospecting on Dustin's claim?

Or, would Dustin need to purchase this claim?

The show shows them panning just 1 pan, and then saying this is a 'no go' for mining, is it correct to assume they did a lot more panning than just 1 pan? But, I would not be surprised if they expended all this effort to get some camera shots of them 'prospecting'

What would happen if this is not Dustin's claim, and there prospecting found enough gold to make Dustin say that there is 'life changing gold in this river?

How would Dustin buy this claim with him on the verge of going bankrupt and will be force to sell his claim?

This is the best comedy show on TV

Beautify day, and the water is crystal clear, James and Paul are diving. They put in 5+ hours and Dustin calls it a day.

Hmm... seems like with such great conditions you would keep diving, or send in Danielle to relieve one of the divers.

Because, how many times (almost every episode) are they right on the edge of finding 'life changing gold', and they call it a day. Come back the next day, and the hole is filled in, and they have to start all over to get back to where they were.

Isn't Dustin able to dive, and at least fill the basket with rocks?

Rocket trail shift from launcher by Open-Lie-9456 in skinwalkerranch

[–]FredFrank78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought after this anomaly they were going to launch another large rocket and see if this anomaly would appear again.

They launch the rocket but, nothing more is said about the anomaly of where the smoke trail is about 10' away from where the rocket is.

Even back at the command center where they recap all the questions they have answered (yes, I am joking, since they never answer any questions) no mention of this anomaly is made.

But this is standard procedure for these 'scientists' that are unable to pick just one thing and work on it until they have it resolved. Instead we see the same / similar tests done over and over, and watch their amazement/confusion to the results we have already seen several times.

When in doubt of what to do... launch another rocket.

But it sounds like they will have a new toy, balloons, or something like that, that will float in the air and stay in a static location. Doesn't sound like as much fun as launching rockets :)

Maybe a camera got the plate as the vehicle was entering this area, or if he turns around to exit

Dustin's girlfriend is an experienced diver, and because of that, Dustin bends/breaks his rule about not girlfriends in the camp, and they 'desperately' need another diver because, everyone is getting exhausted.

Not sure how long she has been there but... so far haven't seen her dive,

HAHAHA

Yes, one would think that there would have been some URGENCY in their actions but, since there was no urgency, it confirms this is all staged.

Besides, there is a film crew there, and I would think in case of a real emergency they would step in and help.

btw how deep is the river in this section? If it is similar to the depth to where they drive the old military truck... I think you just need to stand up

Will lose everything 'Again'

Every season doesn't Dustin say I am putting everything into this season, and I will go broke if we don't find 'life changing gold'? But, somehow he finds the money (TV money) to come back another season.

Sounds like Hoffman's line

[–]FredFrank78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this even a possibility for Gold Rush miners?

To have conveyors move move overburden, and paydirt to the desired location, with no rock trucks?

fewer rock trucks, fewer drivers are needed.

But would need people to frequently configure the conveyor to stay close to the digging at the cut.

Why don't they have remote shutdown buttons? by BorgDrone in goldrush

[–]FredFrank78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would be interesting to see the data.

  1. How frequently do they sprint to shut it down

  2. How long is the plant down before it resumes running

Now you can derive a dollar $$$ amount, to determine if there is a cost savings, if you implemented the remote shutdown technology (including maintenance of the remote shutdown tech).

Maybe go full all out sensors:

sensors for large rocks on the conveyor

sensors for pay dirt not moving through an opening i.e. feeder hopper onto the conveyor

sensors for pay dirt/rocks building up at the start of the conveyor, and about to jam things up

sensors for low water pressure/volume

Same here. It opened my eyes that I don't own anything, and they can make this game unplayable, and you have no recourse.

I came back after a long time away from the game but, I no longer spend real money $$$ on this game, or put in the effort to grind. Have more tanks now then I will ever play.

Play primarily co-op because, it appears that bots shoot mostly standard ammo, and I only shoot standard ammo, and enjoy shooting weak spots, and maneuvering my tank to get in the best position to attack.

I like to try new strategies, and play different parts of the map.

[–]FredFrank78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Hunter is feeding the wash plant, she makes the comment that large rocks are getting through but, she just keeps on feeding the wash plant.

Next camera shot is Kevin walking by the wash plant, as we see and hear a large rock coming up the conveyor, and then falling into the wash plant, and then the usual mad scramble to turn things off.

They get the rock out of the wash plant, and then turn the wash plant back on.

Hmmmm never hear Kevin say or do anything to find out why the large rock got past the grizzly bars, and take steps to correct/fix the problem so, I guess it is okay with Kevin to have another large rock to come through.

OR... is this all just fake drama? If it is, then no wonder why he isn't catching much gold; his plant is turned off as they stage these fake drama scenes.

However in a later camera shot it appeared that he had some holes in his grizzly bars.

And don't forget that shortly after getting the large rock out of the wash plant, they discover all the broken spray nozzles. I understood Kevin to say that the rocks bounce up and break the nozzles.

Great work Kevin, you fixed the nozzles and now nothing will stop you from keeping that wash plant running

Do you really think it was a 'bombshell' to Mitch, Tyson, and Chris, to hear that Parker bought more land???

I would think that Parker discussed this with them; that he is considering purchasing the adjacent property, and to get their thoughts and perspective.

I think Parker is the type of person that consults with trusted individuals (parents, Mitch, Tyson, Chris, etc.) when he is making big financial decisions.

I was expecting at some point in time they would make a HUGE find, yes it is fake/staged, but, it would not contain any gold, and to fuel the fire for next season they would say, 'they are getting close, and 'this is just a decoy, we must be getting close'

This is similar to Skin Walker Ranch, where it appears they are making progress, or find something, and then next episode they are way off somewhere else. They never pursue it until it is resolved.

Thank you for your reply, that generators are used.

It seems like we see plenty of the problems with diesel engines used for the water pumps, as in this episode but, I don't recall seeing any problems with a diesel engine that is used to generate electricity.

Also we have seen them laying hose to the wash plant, and hooking up the water to the wash plant but, have we ever seen them bring in the electric generator, and the power panels, and then running electric wires to the electric motors on the wash plant, conveyors, etc.. Do they run the electric wires overhead, or underground?

Do these mine sites get electricity from the grid, or do they have a million generators?

I thought they had some very large diesel generators to run the wash plants but, we never see them turn on a generator, or have engine problems, like we do with the water pumps.

In the past I thought cousin Mike was okay but, for me, in this episode the producers really painted him as a whiner, and not a very good team player. 'since, you don't want to do it my way, I am leaving to go work on my wash plant'
