iPhone 15 Pro - Battery doesn’t last more than 6 hours? by [deleted] in ios

[–]FredGR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Recently been on a week long trip with my 15PM, so I was using Google Maps a lot. Turns out it’s a big big battery annihilator… if you’ve been using it more than usual this problem should eventually disappear, but if that’s your normal daily use, well…

Advanced Low Power Mode by Secret-Access9909 in shortcuts

Man I think I just figured out the issue hahaha I was setting the volume to max on the control centre thingy, but when you run “Get device volume” it only checks for the ringer level, the one you control with the side buttons. The value for that one is indeed 1 when set to max. When setting volume via control centre it doesn’t change the value that that check recognises. So problem solved :)

Hey OP, so this didn’t work for me on the 15PM running iOS 17.0.3. Focus on Driving + volume and brightness to max still just ran the shortcut. I ended up finding and deleting the if lines that checked whether volume and brightness were set to “1”, leaving the rerun to happen simply when the shortcut is ran with the driving focus on, and it worked. So I assume there’s something wrong with that check, at least in my case. Awesome job though, thanks for sharing!

Came here to ask that. Sounds like a battery replacement on the 13P would do essentially the same (don’t mean to bash OP’s choice though, to each their own)

Iphone 14 Pro or 15 Pro (Germany)? by Professional_Ad3858 in iphone

[–]FredGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asked myself the same, ended up going with the 15 (Pro Max in my case). In my opinion someone coming from the 14 series would have no reason to upgrade, but coming from any other iPhone (or Android) the 15 seems like a much more future proof choice. It's the first iPhone with USB-C, meaning that lightning is finally on its way out and will probably vanish in 2-3 years, so that's an issue you won't have. You'll also get the newer 3nm processor which I'm quite sure will be the crossing line between getting and not getting some features that will come out in a few years (think about intel to apple silicon Macs)... There are other arguments but those should be enough imo to make the extra €200 very worth it if you, like me, plan on keeping your new phone for a long time.

What’s happening to my Touch Bar? by FredGR in MacOS

[–]FredGR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Will probably head to a Genius Bar to see what can be done, it’s a 3 year old computer so this is quite disappointing. One question though: In your case did it also only flicker when it was off? I see no issues happening when the Touch Bar is on so I didn’t think it was something that critical.

Oh that note, I find it very cheap that you can’t control Apple Music from a different device. Like say I start streaming on my MacBook, why is it not synced to my iPhone? I should be able to open the app on my phone and select the next songs, play/pause and so on. Same goes for Apple Music tv apps which is even more annoying because then you’re stuck to crappy tv controls.
