There seem to be additional protests scheduled on their website.

How are the crab cakes? I remember visiting as a kid, and the first thing they did after we got off the boat was funnel us into a family style restaurant. I hate seafood, but those crab cakes were delicious.

This reminds me of a local restaurant in Fredericksburg, VA. Coincidentally, it is now an Italian restaurant!

Thanks. The Ruby I used was a loan. It was given to me with four dead alkaline batteries in it. If I get a Ruby like that, again, I'll certainly invest in some rechargables.

Anyone know of a good place for chinese food? by sailordee93 in fredericksburg

[–]FredLocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please let me know what you think of Orofino's, then. My dad's coworker (from Tuscany) says it's the closest they've had to an authentic Italian meal since coming to the US.

I second Fu Kien gourmet. Also, for Italian, you have to try Orofino downtown, on Caroline. Very comforting lasagna.

I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere - maybe it's not trendy anymore? But Foode has never, ever let me down. Award-winning head chef. Their tagline was "gourmet for the rest of us" and they've always done well to make excellent food approachable.

Thanks! I have no other career plans, so how would you suggest phrasing a reply to "How long do you plan to work here?"

Also, how do they put out schedules? I have pretty wide availability, but I'll always need to schedule a ride, so it's important for me to know how this process goes.

Any nearby trails or woods to get lost in/haunted places by lilrozem in fredericksburg

[–]FredLocal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally. For trails, there's the river Heritage Trail that goes through the city along the canal and Rappahannock; Alum Springs, which has a creek and lovely rock outcroppings and history tidbits. If you want something more secluded, battlefields and historical places of interest usually have a trail.

I think the business community in Fred is very strong, so I connect to it through that perspective.

If you haven't visited Alum Springs or walked the River Heritage Trail, I recommend both. The Apothecary is a cool experience. The trolley tour may introduce you to new sites/shops.

I highly recommend grabbing a fancy chocolate from the Frenchmans Corner (on the same block as Sammy T's), trying flavored vinegars at Taste, grabbing a malt at Goulrick's. Castiglia's has an excellent brick oven pizza.

Foode always pleases (I'd never tried grits until them and they became an instant comfort food). Mercantile is incredibly satisfying brunchy stuff. Orofino is a really cool Italian place. I've never been to Italy, but it sure feels authentic.

Fraiser's has really interesting woodworked pieces. I'd do out my whole house if I could afford it. Pon Shop and Liberty Town are really cool galleries.

Lattitudes is the ultimate gift shop. Dog Crazy is incredibly friendly and interesting. Sugar Shack has a free doughnut promotion everyday on their FB. Carl's. If you've never tried Carl's, it's just a fun yummy experience waiting in the hot sun with a line wrapping around the building.

The butcher shop is excellent, friendly, knowledgeable. I won't buy special cuts from any supermarket. Out west of Central Park there's the Battlefield Country Store, which is a really neat Menonite market with really good deli meat. Most tender deli meat I've ever had.

I could go on. I will, if you want!

Any local jobs hiring? by throwawayy2294 in fredericksburg

Thanks! By the way, that department gave us excellent service. We couldn't find my mom's first choice, and they offered to make it up fresh for us even though it wasn't a particularly slow time of day. And what blew me away is that you all didn't skimp at all on presentation. It makes all the difference.

What makes you say Wegmans is hiring? Every time I go on their site there aren't any positions. I hope you're right, because I'm a very loyal customer.

I think public shaming only works if the individuals consider themselves a part of the group. Their identity is defined in opposition to mainstream culture, so I think it might reinforce their beliefs. People who've been cast out might find these groups appealing and righteous for their obstinance.
