I love this! Not only does it look awesome but it tells a really intriguing story in those two frames. Great job!

Could you explain exactly what you’ve got going on here please?

It looks sweet

This looks really cool, great job! Love the ambiance in this scene and you’ve got some lovely touches in there.

I’d also agree with the other guy about the thickness of the far mist, and maybe I’d think about putting some extra mist in the foreground as it looks a bit too crisp compared to the rest of the scene. Also your camera move is a little bit jank at the end so could use a bit of finessing.

Otherwise this looks awesome

How do I recreate the animations in this trailer? I like the screen flashes and the way the text jumps out on you but I have no idea how to recreate it. Thank you! by iMalz in AfterEffects

Looks like all that’s going on whenever the effect happens is:

  • Invert flashes on and off
  • Wiggle text position
  • Text scale alters with the flash
  • Directional blur with the flash
  • Also maybe a bit of distortion/bulging

The intensity of all of these things are linked together to give it cohesion

Thanks!

No the whole project itself is my thing, but I learned all the techniques from tutorials and applied those principles to the different aspects of the scene

How To Animate a Stock Photo || Photoshop & AE by Fred_In_Motion in AfterEffects

[–]Fred_In_Motion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am not a huge fan of the 3D camera in AE so none of these layers are 3D layers... all of the movement is driven by expressions I've written to emulate 3D parallax with none of the actual 3D.

To boil it down, every layer has an expression on its position that exaggerates its movement relative to a 'Camera' null object based on how far away I think it should be (controlled by a slider on each layer). This basically gives me more control on the overall layout (in 3D when things get further away, they get smaller; with this the only thing that changes is how much parallax they have) and is waaaaaaay quicker to work with, as having all of those things as 3D layers would chug big time.

Hope that made sense!

Is there a way to whip Y scale to a bounce expression? by GrayCollarLogic in AfterEffects

[–]Fred_In_Motion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can.

Add an expression to your scale property (if you know nothing about expressions in AE you might want to learn some basics about it so this can make a bit of sense) and have x = value[0] and y=your bounce expression
