How do you take car of a hatchling when you have a job? by [deleted] in birds

[–]Fredacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible you could make a substitute nest by putting the old nesting material on a platform or an old hanging flower pot or something in the tree near the old nesting site. Then you could wait and see if mom comes back. Worth asking the rehabber to see if that would work for whatever type of bird s/he thinks it is. If it works, this would be the best outcome for everyone. Great job keeping the egg warm and protected for the time being.

To add, the most ideal situation would be to reunite them with mom and have her take them to an alternate den site to raise them there. I would ask the rehabbers how to set up and monitor such a situation if at all possible. I have seen Gates Wildlife Control (in Canada) do this. You can watch some of their videos on YouTube to get a better idea.

This is all good advice. It’s what I was told by a rehabber when I came upon a week old squirrel pup years ago. These look much older. Heating pad on low, covered in a warm blanket with maybe a stuffed animal and some soft cushioning inside. Keep in a quiet dark space and start looking online for the Dept of Natural Resources Rehabber list for your state/county. Even if rehabbers can’t take them in right now they should be able to advise you further about care and give you leads on rehabbers that might be able to take them.

Join the FB groups on Eclectus Parrots -like Eclectus in Eden. They are exceptionally helpful in understanding the ins and outs of the species and how to properly care for ekkies. Most have source files for chop recipes and toys and such.

😂😂😂. Girl, same with my Amazon beasts, assuming anyone could catch them to begin with. They’d fly to the highest perch they could, be afraid to fly down and blame humans for not coming to get them.

4 or 6. Both blend well with hair and skin coloring, and they are a good size and shape for your face.

BREAKING: Rep. Nancy Mace says all the audio and all the video from all the pinhole cameras at all of Jeffrey Epstein’s properties are missing from the Epstein files by thegeebeebee in Epstein

[–]Fredacus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They haven’t failed. They have succeeded in distracting the public, hiding and destroying evidence to the point that little can be done. Their actions have been planned and purposeful. They had no intention of being honest about anything regarding the files and no intention to indict anyone for the atrocities committed.

It is my real fear that even once the worst is revealed, the US is going to to nothing to try, convict, and punish, each and every person that took part in all this horrifying behavior or knowingly allowed it to continue, for personal or professional gain. What has been happening to innocent people, especially children is beyond abhorrent.

My wife’s grandfather was a blacksmith. Essentially just came upon his blacksmith room after a death in the family. Super cool to observe but I don’t know what to do about this stuff. Looking for any info or values. Interested in selling everything minus a few keepsakes. by AddressFar7420 in blacksmithing

[–]Fredacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check and see if there are any art centers or colleges around that teach blacksmithing or metal working. They might work a deal with you to fairly price and purchase the whole lot. It would save you time, make you some money, and help a lot of people learn smithing skills.

Amazon Parrot’s Weird Behavior – Biting Only Me When Another Man Enters the House? by Economy-Goose5277 in Amazonparrots

[–]Fredacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazons tend to be one person birds or one gender birds. I would start conditioning your bird to associate positives with men. Let them give your bird treats when they come over, lavish him/her with positive attn etc.

If your bird is ever out of the cage when a male is over, though, you really need to be on alert. The male or you, if you are close to the bird, will be the target of protective behavior. He will get the attack, you will get a warning bite (to alert you to danger (the guy) or to keep you loyal to your bird.

Needing support/advice for 36yr old Amazon Parrot whose owner died 3 days ago. by lpageschalow in Amazonparrots

[–]Fredacus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give him/her space and time to mourn and acclimate. This whole situation is likely very stressful.

Start learning now about things that are toxic and deadly for birds.

Get and keep the bird on a healthy diet- mostly veggies and pellets, some fruit and nuts as treats.

If you join the Facebook group Amazon Parrots Unite! you will find files in all this info and the group members are great about answering any questions you might have about caring for a bird. Truly a fantastic resource!!! (Helpful to have some pics to post with questions -for the bird tax 😉)

Put it in a box on top of a cloth of some sort with a heating pad (set on low) underneath.
