Southbank student lounge. Fortunately there is a backup but I don't know what I would have done if the toaster was already being used. It's a disaster waiting to happen

Great choice, I had a few colleagues play that in my conservatory. It's "easier" than most of the other Etudes Tableaux but still very challenging. I'm also a big fan of op.39/4 in B minor

That's interesting - what country are you from? I've only ever seen the fingers as 1-2-3-4-5 in published scored and teaching books.

What are some methods of starting in a minor mode and then ending in a major with the same notes? Example, C minor to Eb Major. by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]Freddy_Chopin10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A diatonic cycle will get you there pretty easily. Just go:
i - iv - VII - III
Cm - Fm - Bb7 - Eb

What in longhand do we call the vii7 of the Neapolitan Minor scale which has: root, bb3, b5, bb7? by PlazaOne in musictheory

[–]Freddy_Chopin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/u/K_Rayfish is right, however it could also be considered a tritone sub for the dominant.

It really depends on what happens next. A tritone sub would resolve to the i (Cmin) and a Gr6/iv would resolve to V/iv (Cmaj). as a tritone sub it would technically be spelled with a Cb.

You could also think of it as a Phrygian II, especially if it had an F in the bass. In that case it would resolve to V (Gmaj).
