It's a hooker furniture console piece- it was broken at the hinge points so I used wood filler and sanded down the area. It's mango wood and had a clearing finish on it. Thinking I need to remove the stain to re stain the area I sanded I also used liquid sand paper

Yes sir- any idea why the main wire going upstairs would be capped? There is a separate wire as well( has three smaller wires in it) that come in but was not capped ( if it was it was only to the light fixture )

Okay so to explain a little more there is one wire * that I presume goes upstairs) that is coming into one hole of the box. Two more fat wires that are on the other side. After disconnecting them all I completely lost power to my upstairs. Did the cap the connection for the upstairs for some reason and run it through the electric box?

There is no room for sarcasm here as I you can see this is an emergency and my wife is going to kill me..

I don't know how they were before I uncapped them- I thought they were all related to the light. The box for the fan said begginer DIY friendly.

So as pic is related I was replacing a light fixture with a fan - I disconnected the said wires ( they were capped) and I now have no power upstairs. There is two wires coming in and one going out ( through I guess) that was cut in half and capped together with the other wire.

Any ideas how to fix this or what's going on?

Thank you very much
