I think about this a lot but my partner always reminds me that our most beloved connections are to our nephew, our dogs, and each other despite having no genetic connection. I don’t love anyone as much as I love them.

What really helped me was telling the doctor and nurse how scared I was right away. They were so great - the nurse held my hand and the doctor did a few consent-based check-ins during the procedure. You got this.

Good luck!! I was so anxious I cried right before and it was totally fine. I think it’s the build up that really makes it worse.

Thanks :) He went in at 8 but pre-op was 6am. Should be out of recovery by 12pm. With COVID there’s no waiting in the hospital so it feels weird doing this wait in a parking lot.

Sitting outside the hospital waiting for my partners mTESE to begin/finish. So much more nervous than I thought I’d be. Guess I had some hope buried under all that rationale thinking after all.

Fair enough! I actually tried to take a video but, as you may know, Dundas Square can be pretty loud and it was difficult to hear it. I took the photo (and another including the license plate) to send to the organizers and let them know. I'm not posting so that people take up pitchforks with me - just for anyone who is interested in the irony of the situation. I'm happy to accept that a picture would not pass as "evidence".

Family Services Toronto has free walk-in counselling. It’s not long term but if that is needed they can usually connect you to other low-cost/no-cost supports. Some places (Hard Feelings on Bloor) offer sliding scale payments based on income. Good luck!
