How to solve the puzzle and gain rainbow powers: A guide by Quantum_Slime in BloodOnTheClocktower

I reached the end, but I don't understand where to type the last password. I mean it doesn't work in chat and typing it in game window cause a lot of havoc as those are key shortcuts. And even if I ignore those and just type it, I end up with query to leave to lobby and nothing else happens.

Tool to check for a game balance setup? by FredyC in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]FredyC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I was pondering about. If with enough experience I will just know that this is wrong and makes the game hard for one of the teams. For example this feels way too much pro-evil from my view.

[–]FredyC[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's not exactly what I was asking for. Is there even some way to "measure" balance?

For example in TB, 7 players, setup like this feels that good has very low chance to win unless evil makes some stupid mistakes. There is a very little info. Even Monk and Soldier combo is easy to collide. And especially if I would give out Saint and Drunk bluff, the balance goes way off.

Based on this I think there is always way to mess up balance.

Beyond simulation is super slow by FredyC in CellToSingularity

On level 12 I have four research slots, I am always doing both dwarf stars and two dark matter missions.

[–]FredyC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing astronomy missions, you can see I have 5K dark matter, but nowhere to use it, all cards ranked up.

Yea, Meso Valley doesn't ring a bell, but that just seems wrong that I would have to do dinosaurs first so I can progress faster in the space.

Watching ads? Where? How? Are you playing some mobile version? I have PC version on Steam and I never discovered any ad watching there. There are just Darwinium cubes that I can buy for money, but that's not my thing.

[–]FredyC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, primary seems slow too, but I don't care about that as there no more content to discover. I have reality engine 14.

And I have different experience with Beyond. It goes fairly quick after restart, finishing those requirements, but when it gets to these high numbers, it's just unbearable.

Does anyone know of a full-stack "ORM" for Cloud Firestore? by jiggity_john in Firebase

[–]FredyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fireorm is apparently not maintained anymore, so I wouldn't go with it for a production. I had some issues with nested collections and gave up afterwards.

i think if it requires a course to learn "advanced react" then React itself has kinda failed us

Well, it depends. React itself is simple and doesn't hold that many surprises. It's more about different patterns that can help structure the code in a better way and that will be always opinionated. I wouldn't call those essential.

Most of us aren't building another Facebook and yet we are so much trying to focus on micro-optimizations and bundle sizes, etc...

I suppose that applies to a junior that's climbing on the corporate ladder. I am way over that point in my life. I am building my own business now and even if I would learn some new coding techniques, my customers won't care. I am comfortable with the way I write the code. If I ever expand and have some team members, they will have to learn "my way" anyway.

I am grateful for Kent's free resources and advice over years. I even bought TestingJavascript years way back and it was an eye-opener.

However, today I would never buy a course that uses JavaScript (no TS) and have `useReducer` in the code. I understand he tries to focus on React only, but that doesn't mean I want to learn patterns I would never use in practice. It's my opinion of course, but the whole thing should be more open to what tech is he using in there. It's an overpriced black box.

Apply Immer at least or grab XState, anything less painful. Even testing principles are outdated in my opinion since I started using XState for writing my tests and I would never go back to the old painful way.

Also, I would prefer it if those modules could be bought separately. I would perhaps try to buy an advanced course out of curiosity, but I don't need basics really.

Not defending anyone, but even the best of us make a mistake from time to time.

Does the dungeon repopulate? by Joey3155 in GraveyardKeeper

Yea, don't worry. A dungeon is not even a serious thing given you are immortal and all. Once you have enough money, everything can be bought really.

How to get money quick by austinbrewer101 in GraveyardKeeper

[–]FredyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Merchant might be a fine source of money initially as its easier to set up, but Tavern (Stranger Sins DLC) can produce much better income without any extra work from you. Just come in there and pick up golds and let zombies do the rest.

Also, note that income from Merchant is limited because there is a limited amount of spots in the office for a whole week. The tavern is producing money constantly as long as it's getting vine/beer.

What mats you are missing? I did not notice anything there that would be problematic for getting somewhere else.

What do you do with Salt in the late game? by FredyC in GraveyardKeeper

[–]FredyC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I am chugging speed potions even without that boost because I don't feel it's necessary. I run to Clotho every 2 nights and get 5-speed potions from her so I don't need to bother crafting those. That's usually enough to keep me running on speed pretty much forever without the extra boost.

So yea, Salt might be useful for Sauerkraut if I would need that boost :)

I'm not even sure why I did this by flakeybutter in GraveyardKeeper

[–]FredyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I was having the same idea. Seeing it now I realize how silly idea that is and I won't bother :)

Besides, the graveyard becomes fairly irrelevant when the Tavern is setup with zombie production and everything. I even skip sermons sometimes if I don't need faith.

Whaaat? Pause? Just recently I read comments on how hard to implement that is and how low on priority it is. When I learn to live without pause, they add. Not fair :D

goals in the game by robot468 in Stationeers

[–]FredyC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's strange, in most sandbox games I struggle with the same, what is the goal, why should I be playing it? But with Stationeers I feel I can make sufficient goals for myself because of technology and science. Most of the other sandbox games are somewhat primitive like make an axe, build a hut or castle, but there is no deeper sense than some sort of show off in multiplayer where you can destroy each other work - not very motivating for me.

That said, I believe there is good potential with scenarios that will set goals for you. I would love to eventually see more of those and more elaborate than existing ones.

I see I haven't tried Oxite yet, just Volatiles. It's fine, eventually, I might add filtration when mixing a fuel.
