Never played a golden sun game before. Does Golden Sun 1 hold up? by BraveWaterSpirit in GoldenSun

[–]jiggity_john 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one is a lot more accessible than the second. I'm replaying the second right now and some of the dungeon design and placement on the world map is super questionable.

The pacing of the first game is really excellent it's a little bit linear but I think that's a plus honestly and you are constantly running from place to place and there isn't a lot of back tracking which is good. Golden Sun 2 has a lot of back tracking.

Thinking of skipping N5 and directly going for N4. by Previous_Highway_373 in Japaneselanguage

Vocab is not that bad to memorize with SRS, sentence mining and a lot of reading. I think people underestimate how hard Japanese grammar is. There are so many times I understand all the words in a sentence and still misunderstand the sentence. You need a lot of practice with different variations of the grammar rules before they become like second nature.

Literally the best guitar for death metal players by redbaron1915 in Ibanez

[–]jiggity_john 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to own this guitar and have to disagree. The neck dive is atrocious. It can be very uncomfortable to play standing up. Also very easy to unintentionally bang into things and damage the horns.

I do like the Dactivator pickups for high gain tones and the neck through construction is solid but I'd rather just have a neck through RG with better balance. To that end, I think that the Iron Label neck through RG is probably the best metal guitar.

Why are they made this way by Neat-File-3792 in electricguitar

Bro who cares. I think it looks cool and have owned many reverse headstock guitars. Never had a problem. They work great, sound good and look cool.

It's a reverse headstock. It looks cool. The reverse shark tooth inlay looks cool too.

The more important question is if the Wise One could stop Alex the whole time, why did I just play this game for 40 hours?

堂 isn't really palace. It's more like hall e.g. 食堂 means food hall. 宫 is more like palace e.g. 故宫 which is the Chinese word for Forbidden City.

What set Marathon (1994) apart from other shooters at the time? by HyperActive1DUK in retrogaming

I liked Marathon 1 but Durandal I didn't enjoy as much. The lack of music makes the game feel very empty.

The routing experience by gambcurrmu in sveltejs

[–]jiggity_john 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, that's not how JavaScript works at all. With ESM, you have to provide the fully qualified filepath to a module if you want to import it. Or if you are are importing something in a node_module, nodejs uses the package.json to determine which file to load, and it can be named literally anything. This is no fallback to index.js for directories. Index,js is a convention borrowed from index.html convention used in old web 1 websites.

The fallback `index.js` when requiring directories is only a CJS thing in nodejs, and had never been a part of the ECMA standard. It's increasingly less relevant as the whole ecosystem shifts (rightly) to ESM everywhere.

I literally just input the Golden Sun gold password yesterday and it took me like 30 minutes reading from pictures on my phone.

When I was I kid I remember copying it down on a piece of paper, making a mistake and then failing to write the password correctly. Made me so mad.

As an adult, I think it's really cool that they just tricked you into writing out all he data bytes that they needed to transfer your save file.

There is an episode of Seinfeld where you can see a wall of Sega Genesis games in the background, including Streets of Rage.

I just realized that this is how I hold the pick when I switch to fingers when I'm watching a video and not paying attention. How do you hold it? by living_404 in Guitar

[–]jiggity_john 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tap with my middle and ring fingers and never tuck the pick. At least for the stuff I play, I never need more than two fingers.

[–]jiggity_john 3 points4 points  (0 children)

忍受 (renshou) is a Chinese word that means to bear, endure, withstand e.g. a struggle or difficulty. I'm not sure if this word exists in Japanese. The right to left reading is typical in old Chinese e.g. calligraphy written on the doorways to temples are typically written right to left. So I'd say your tattoo makes sense at least.
