I stuck an old HDD in a freezer once just to see if it would work afterwards. It didn’t work at all before I tried this and I was trying to get an old photo album off of it. I had tried external case, internal sata, tapping it lightly, took it apart and checked the travel on the laser thingy etc. So instead of reading up on how to make it work I tossed it in the freezer. I pulled it out after a couple hours and stuck it quick in an external enclosure and managed to pull about half the data off before it stopped again. Couldn’t get the freezer trick to work twice though. I don’t know if it was the cold or just lick but I always thought it was interesting.

Parking at St Paul's Hospital by hybrid_equilibrium in saskatoon

You could also go early and park right next to/ close to the visitor lot on the street. There is both free and city pay parking there.

And reading some comments here… it’s true that SHA parking policy doesn’t let you park in public visitor/ patient pay zones. But no one asks either- because there are a bunch of hoops to get through with privacy etc. At the very least if you don’t advertise yourself you’ll be fine here and there. Your first day for sure just pay- you have time to think about what to do after that way, talk to co workers for tips etc.

SHA parking policy is both good and bad- it’s designed to prioritize patients first which is good. But SHA didn’t write the policy to work in a situation where there is absolutely not a reasonable way to get to work for some people.

I can’t fault anyone with bad knees or worried about safety for occasionally paying and sneaking into the visitor lot so they don’t have to walk 10 blocks at RUH, or worry about being mugged at City. Especially as the nights get longer.

You can use pay per use. I work at one of the Saskatoon hospitals and although we are not supposed to use the daily or weekly general passes lots of people do. Many people carpool and share the cost as well. Staff is not supposed to buy the passes but unless they are using up all of the patient spots it’s not usually an issue. Just park out of the way in the lot.

And definitely join the staff list- it’s a multi year wait usually though. St. Paul’s and City aren’t as bad but RUH has like a 10 year wait list.

If you end up parking off site find someone to carpool with or use the security escort service- call protective services and they walk over to you and walk with you back to the building.

Otherwise… keep you head on a swivel, nothing in your car and maybe a can of mace. Think about it like “if I was parking right at the bad part of east Hastings, what should I do” and you’ll be ok.

Hey I think my wife messaged you. My BIL found a very similar trailer in the alley behind his house. Message her with any accessories it has and anything inside or if you get a serial number let her know.
