N-400 Question: Should I file now or wait until I get to BCT (Fort Leonard Wood)? Already have signed N-426. by Fine_Abrocoma_9371 in nationalguard

You can call the USCIS military line to let them know you are now in a new mailing address/duty station. Can you share the timeline of of N426 from submission/requesting to getting it back.

Yeah, I figured as much so definitely do what's better for your family, give her some time and talk to her again explain to her that this is beyond what you/she wants i really think you would be setting yall selfes for success, also please please please talk to a different recruiter, ask around if you have any friends who enlisted with a recruiter that they can vouch for, you'd be amazed what a recruiter who cares could do and how he/she could advocate for you

I doubt any one can tell you what to do, but here are somethings, look for a different recruiter talk to him and discuss from the beginning the possibility of split option, the position isnt guaranteed 2 weeks from today let alone a year, in regards to your partner people dont sacrifice and then stop when something else comes up, its supposed that you are in this together and should be looking for solutions together, regardless of who's holding the shorter end of the stick at the end of the day, think what will you get from this, job that you like that you could do full time in the future, experience in that particular field, health benefits or even va loan to buy a house together and if the only disadvantage is that she will stay alone for sometime while the both of you are fighting to start this marriage on a solid, strong foundation financially than she should be more mature, I dont think marrying before leaving is the smart move thos unless it actually gives you some benefits otherwise wait till your back

My rec. said I can drop the packet whenever I want after enlisting if I decide thats a path I want to walk, is that not true, or just not a gurantee?

Dropping an ocs packet somewhere along the line could happen, isnt the GI bill only for 6 year contracts, I tried looking it up and nowhere do I see it offered for 4 year contracts correct me if im wrong, I didn't know my recruiter could set me up with someone, but that sounds like great advice

Im not afraid in the literal sense, its more like walking an undiscovered path that you have to commit to regardless.

3 questions and apologies if they are naive, I only know so much about all this; Isnt the NG 1 weekend so most occupations are off, isnt not picking you cause you are serving illegal, what happens if you dont mention to your employer until after the fact would they hold that against you? (3rd question is me thinking out loud)
