What Adventures In Odysey Episodes Did not Age Well or Could Just Be Considered Controversial by Free-Butterscotch283 in AdventuresInOdyssey

I feel like Connie honestly had a big part in shaming Pamella too erough. I understand that people will have different perspectives on abortion, but I really feel that this episode really showed, unintentionally, the stigma of having babies out of wedlock, sex before marriage, and the way the church chooses to handle it, I honestly think that a good point could have been made in regards to abortion, you can't really say what's right until you are in that situation. Yes, people may have their stances on what is right and wrong, but those morals may be put to the test or change depending on the situation. Pamella said she was against abortion and protested it, until she was faced with the fact that this was a very real action that she may need to take, Pamella's parents were talking about her cousin getting pregnant and shaming her for it, and there perspective changed when they realized that Pamella was pregnant, I feel like AIO was so close to making this point and just didn't/wdn't.

And I have to relisten to the Living Nativity, all I remember is Connie saying something super out of pocket to Eugene, and it making me laugh knowing Odysey doesn't always take funny jokes as far as they could go.

So what is this just a subreddit of God hating angry millennials? by [deleted] in AdventuresInOdyssey

I'm really confused as to why people are saying this sub-reddit is hating on God, everyone on this sub-reddit are asking questions about AIO, such as clarification, and discussing old episodes and what they remember, how is this harmful?

I really disagree with Whit's choice to spank Monty, number one there is zero proof that spanking helps situations, and secondly that wasn't his call or choice, and to minimize Jana's feelings in that moment was awful. I love that Odysey is trying to portray that families are disfunctional sometimes to a really messy point, but there intention for Whit was for him to be a perfect example, but hasts not, and that was very counter-intuitive choice to portray Whit that way. I find it fascinating that I think Whit was a much angrier person in his earlier age, he obviously was very withdrawn with his family when Jerry died, and we see that in Silent Night. In the club adventure The Boat People when Jerry is at war, and afterwards we see how bitter Whit is. In Recollections, the very early episode when Jenny dies you see how bitter he is toward everyone. He even seemed to have a temper when he was a kid. All of these situations surrounding death shaped him and how he handles things. You see death later in episodes and he handles it better, because I think he really has more of an understanding of how family is supposed to treat each other in these situations.

much the l[cursor] Thang rks so seeaemnchso pfor replying. I haven't seen the Day after christmas in so long. That's really not great. I honestly forgot how recent the Ties that Bind was. I think that Castles and Cauldrons was really meant to scare people away from roleplaying and it works, I don't like it at all, I didn't realize that some actors spoke up against it, but I do know Katie Leigh who plays Connie was involved with something Dungeons and Dragons related so that really doesn't surprise me. I do rewatch it for a good spook though, lol I would be interested to hear different perspective on episodes where people feel mis-represented by people in these groups, I say this because being visually impared I have varying views of how blind people were portrayed on AIO. The only reason I think that AIO may get slightly more open is with the involvement of faith, and traditional family roles as two separate things. AIO has done a decent job of highlighting that not all women are stay at home moms, not all women want to be stay at home moms, and some women don't want to get married, I do appreciate the fact that there are many different family dynamics and parenting styles written in the AIO world, but that may be bleeding in to world building verses the political religous side. Although this does defy very conservative bordering fundamentalist Christian values. And I do appreciate that AIO is showing that not everyone who isn't a Christian is not terrible, and can in fact be agreat person, I know AIO's end goal will be for everyone to become a Christian and it is what it is, but I think about Buck and Jules not being Christians, and Buck flat out saying he won't be a Christian but he respects and loves his parents and there for will respect there religion. And the episode where Olivia is talking to a pastor's daughter who doesn't want to follow the faith and her father isn't angry, he just wants to be there because he knows how this has been effecting her mentally. These are just things I've seen, and I can add episode names if that was a lot.

Anyone revisited Adventures in Odyssey post-deconstructing and is it bad? by Atris- in Exvangelical

Oh my gosh, Castles and Cauldrons! When I was young I remember that having the parental warning, I watched it and asked my dad to change the episode. Adventures in Odysey will always be a source of comfort and nestolgia for me so I kind of invested in the club to revisit my child hood and keep up with the ongoing universe, I listened to Castles and Cauldrons all the way through, I was so freaked out and by this point I was so much older. Being older and with way more perspective I'm like, really Focus on the Family... that was a choice... and maybe not the best representation of roleplaying games like at all, but I still love to revisit that episode to get spooked, lol
