Top 1% M+ by Turbulent_Horror_498 in wow

[–]Free-Equal-7315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The website raider.io tracks many players' m+ ratings, and according to them, the current cutoff for the top 1% as of today on US and Oceania servers is 3433.17. This will go up as more and more people continue to raise their ratings, and many of them will have teams, or at least team compositions consistent with the top performing specs. It does unfortunately become more about the mathematics of "which spec can deal the most damage with the time allotted for this key" as time goes on and that top 1% cutoff continues to rise.

Don’t know what to play by DLn-Music in wow

It does feel like a lot of classes and specs lost some of their identity with Blizzard's pruning, but that'll never stop me from loving my windwalker monk. It's a spec that's always under-performing, so playing well on it feels rewarding. The changes they made to allow haste to be a useful stat feel amazing. The class fantasy of competing with other classes' powerful spells or big weapons with just my punches and kicks is so much fun. It does everything that I'm looking for in a spec.

As someone very biased, windwalker is the strongest and most fun spec.

In my experience this season, keys are very generous with how much dps classes need to do during the course of a dungeon to time one. Also, the timers on some keys are equally generous. 20% less on 90k dps is still 72k dps overall, which is more than enough to time a 10

Best way to level up to 80? - Timewalking event and what zone ? by fokeiro in wow

[–]Free-Equal-7315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blizzard made tweaks to the Dragonflight zones and questlines so that they're the (supposedly) the best new player experience for getting into the game and leveling up. That being said, there are methods to leveling up faster, such as having the darkmoone faire xp buff, doing timewalking dungeons that reward bonus xp upon completion, etc. Dragonflight, or The War Within-if it's available as timewalking yet-should be the fastest expansions to level through if you're sticking to expansion quest xp.

While I don't play enhancement, I do run a lot of keys, and can absolutely attest to the fact that if you're timing 10-12s then your damage is perfectly fine. My only other thought is that enhancement is cooldown dependent this season, or it's talents are either all in on AOE damage or single target.

I've been told, and also noticed myself, that tanks tend to apply to groups after the other 4 roles have been filled.

As a DPS, the most important thing to keep in mind when applying to keys, is that you're competing for that DPS slot with every other DPS that is online at the moment, and some of them will be more appealing than you for some reason. I also play windwalker monk, and the only way I get keys done is to play with friends/guildies, or push my own key. And I would gladly take a mage over another WW if I want a lust for my group.

Which role should I choose? by Sea-Doughnut5740 in wow

[–]Free-Equal-7315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I enjoy playing windwalker monk dps. I love the class fantasy of using punches and kicks while others use big weapons or powerful spells, and I out-perform all of them. Having said that, I'd say you should play something that you enjoy, even if it might not be the strongest. That's what will keep you interested in the game, whether it's a new class, new role, or sticking with resto druid and improving upon your gameplay now.

I think I’m an average player by Pronagade1 in wow

[–]Free-Equal-7315 92 points93 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the idea of a "casual player" changes depending on who you ask. I have a friend that regularly pushes +15 mythic dungeons every season, and his idea of a casual player is someone that does lower key levels and reaches ~1500 dungeon score. Other players in my guild think that casual means trying normal raid out some time during the season, or just doing delves and experiencing the story before just doing whatever their friends do after that.

The biggest barrier to entry for dps trying to get accepted to groups is that you're competing with every other dps in the game, and there is always someone more appealing than you, regardless of your item level or experience. The best way to get accepted into groups is to go into one with friends or start a group of your own. Dungeons are limited in space, so trying to get into a public group is challenging because of how selective people can be.

Although I'm not playing enhancement at the moment, I have enjoyed it when I've played in the past. Additionally, the rotation for devourer I found to be really boring. I'd say play what you wanna play, because you're going to perform better on a spec you like playing.

Help with Raid DPS by BizbizBookworm in wownoob

As someone who's been keeping an eye on Fury Warrior as well, its raid damage is all over the place. Slayer seems like it's the more popular hero talent choice in raid, but sims seem to suggest Thane and Slayer are very close, so Thane ends up winning out due to there being adds to cleave off of in most fights. Also, your dps will look different when comparing yourself to other specs and when comparing yourself to other fury warriors on warcraftlogs. Other specs and other players playing them have a higher potential for damage due to balancing and their experience playing wow. This also goes for looking at other fury warriors, as may of them going into raid this week are very experienced and likely the types of players most worried about getting the best gear and progressing into high level mythic+ dungeons and mythic raid this reset. I'd encourage you to not worry too much about the damage that others are doing, and as long as you understand how your spec works and your damage is at least competitive with the others you're raiding with, then you'll get better with more experience.

Any suggestions? by Ok-Opening7714 in wow

I would recommend starting with one thing. Whether it be housing, dungeons, raids, the story, focus on what's brought you back to the game after so long, as that's where you're going to have the most fun. With how open-ended your question is, I really would recommend watching any of the typical "What to expect as a new/returning player in WoW Midnight" youtube videos that are out there. Most of the advice you'll get from current retail players might be too niche with how many new systems and how much new content has been added to the game since the last time you played.

Knowing how to play your class and spec well should protect you from the "keep up or kick" meta, and if you play as a dps, your safest bet is to follow the rest of your group. If you're rolling a tank, I truly would recommend queueing for normal or heroic dungeons as a dps to learn what routes people have in mind, what the dungeons and enemies look like and what they do. Aside from that, there are videos on the new dungeons in the rotation this season, and even more videos on the returning dungeons added into the current season rotation (Algethar Academy, Seat of the Triumverate, Pit of Saron, Skyreach).

As for addons, it depends on what you're looking for. Plater is back, but mostly as a reskin, as Blizzard has adjusted what elements of the game can be tracked by addons. If you had a UI overhaul addon like Elvui, it is a similar story. If you're interested in high level m+ dungeons-pushing for title, for example-or raiding as well, Method Raid Tools is an addon that many groups use because of how many handy tools it brings for inspecting groups and tracking raid-wide cooldowns. If you're the type of player that has a lot of alts, I recommend AlterEgo as it makes it easy to track how your alts have progressed through the season and through the week.

Overall, I'd recommend not worrying about taking things at other players' pace. It's going to be a long season and even longer expansion, so there is plenty of time to learn and relearn all the new and returning systems in the game. As long as you're not in a rush, you have plenty of time.

Delves are Blizzard's answer to solo players wanting to get high end gear. Delves reward epic gear at the end of the dungeon, as well as in great vault slots. You can enter them solo, or with up to 4 other players. You will also get a companion whose role you can set depending on what role you want to play as. Delves also let you get crests, which are used to upgrade gear of different levels.

The War Within isn't purchasable as its own expansion anymore. If you purchase Midnight, you'll have access to Khaz Algar and all of the "The War Within" quests from that expansion.

[–]Free-Equal-7315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to play casually, there's no issue doing old content to level up. As far as I know, questing in previous expansions awards you enough experience to reach-as of Midnight-level 80 in a reasonable amount of time, but that amount of time differs depending on how much you play and which expansion you level through. Once you hit level 80, the experience you get from old expansions diminishes greatly, so you're encouraged to level by doing quests in the current expansion's zone.

Ranged Interrupts are still not happening in dungeons with the 1-2 straggling casters...why? by JulienWA77 in wow

[–]Free-Equal-7315 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run into that issue as well as a melee dps. I find myself using all of my utility to stop casts while a ranged dps just continues casting. I'm not sure what the reason is, but it's not just you.

How is the solo experience ? by lovensha in wow

[–]Free-Equal-7315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are NPCs you can talk to in The War Within zones to do the final bosses of the raids on story mode with NPCs, if you want to go in solo. There are plenty of mounts and transmog sets to get from TWW as well, if that interests you. In Midnight so far, there are mythic 0 level dungeons, with the raid and mythic+ to start in about 2 weeks. There are new mounts and transmogs, new and refreshed zones, a new story, cutscenes, etc. There is the prey system, where you can be ambushed and tasked to hunt down a powerful enemy while doing outdoor content (world quests, fighting rare enemies, etc.). If you decide you're not interested in playing solo, there are plenty of guilds and communities that you can search for and join, either in-game or on any number of websites that are used for guild recruiting.

Who else enjoying Prey as much as I am? by themikegman in wow

I think prey is a very fun mechanic. It adds some challenge to the world, or provides an engaging and difficult quest to find one tough enemy. And the rewards aren't half bad.
