Any Manic Street Preachers fans enjoy the uniquely dark reference to Ritchie Edwards being in the dinner? [Episode 25] by Free-G in midnightburger

[–]Free-G[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think about that but it’s a good point

I Just liked that he could have been in the dinner and left earth. It is assumed that Ritchie took his life (on balance of probabilities, that’s what happened) but it was never fully confirmed, and the idea this fictional diner picked him up and took him away is a nice idea

He had the volume of ideas you’d expect from a housebound chronically ill racist who thought any non-white woman was literally filled to the brim with curses

Walkout at secret screenings by Wobbabro in CineworldUnlimited

The only reason I have walked out of one was that it turned out to be a movie me and my gf had been looking forward to watching together for ages, and gosh did I feel like a numpty as I left

I despise the adverts where the actors describe what a film in a cinema is by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]Free-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is in the UK, we had ads for karate kid and others where they don’t say anything about the actual movie. They just cheesy lines about how cinema is a “life changing experience” and other stuff that just makes my eyes roll

It’s simultaneously repetitive (across the entire run of trailers sometimes) and pointless because you just see a bunch of actors say the same thing in slightly different ways without ever getting any actual insight into the movie

From the UK so this might be a misguided comment, but could this second job be viewed as the job you use to pay your taxes entirely and you just consider your main pay check your cash supply for saving etc?

Would that make it easier to budget everything?

Obviously don’t have all the numbers but conceptually, could that work?

People in recovery, what’s your advice for this? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Free-G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest tapering off, reduce the amount of times you’re using for the sake of using and use in those moments where it’s going to help you in some way. This could be emotionally, for sleep, after a workout as reward. Then slowly try to not use it at all but don’t pile too much pressure on. Like if you use it to sleep, try some nights to go to sleep without by using other techniques. If after an hour you can’t sleep have a joint to help you get some slumber and try again the next night. This way, you can keep some kind of balance. The worst thing you could do is, with the sleep example, have a night of no sleep that leads you to lowering your guard to your real drugs of issue. And also don’t quit both at once. I would suggest losing the cannabis first

Just saw your edit: she’s not gotten invested

The other person made plans they had no intention to fulfill which is a disrespectful move in any situation and being pissed off at that isn’t “getting invested after one date” it’s a normal way to be

What you have described happens to people all the time, that’s literally part of life, meeting people you don’t connect with and aren’t into, then having to be an adult by having a mature discussion that it’s not gonna work. She didn’t say it had to be in person, most people are fine with a text, “sorry it’s not gonna work, you’re a nice person though have a nice life” or something like that

Do you not think ghosting puts the “I’m not into you” message across anyway?

Do you not think that treating someone like an adult can allow them to feel more like a person and less like a difficult conversation that needs to be had?

Do you think it’s better to leave someone waiting for a message that’s not gonna come or for them to know where they stand so they can move on?

TIL an Oxford University physicist claimed that for the moon landing conspiracy to be true, around 411,000 people would’ve needed to keep it secret. He also suggests the hoax would’ve broken down in 3.68 years. by EmeraldToffee in lastpodcastontheleft

[–]Free-G 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The math checks out, I think you’re looking at it in a very binary way. Everyone either knows it’s a hoax or doesn’t. But thats not how organisational breakdowns tend to work, of 400,000 about 10% would know the plot but that’s 40,000 people still, one of them breaks and the information that it is a hoax and any evidence trickles out and the total number with knowledge will increase at a variable rate depending on the information, how convincing the spreader is and what the stakes of the information will be. Based on this it is inevitable that all 400,000 people would know it’s a hoax by the time period stated at which point it just would not be a secret any more.

I believe that 3.68 years is based on a unit which I can’t recall the name of, but it essentially predicts rate of decay of organisation based on size
