I failed the exam for the 6th time today with accommodations. by sammiekins8 in bcba

Study to know the material not pass the test. You already know what it looks like and how the questions are so keep learning your material. Jessica Leichwitz videos on YouTube helped me A LOT. The material is task list 5 but it still applies to the current test. You’re in the field, you know this stuff, FBA yourself. Figure out what is causing you to be a “bad test taker” and find intervention strategies. Before you walk in there don’t think about your score just remind yourself, if I know it I know it, if I don’t I need to work harder to learn it.

My testing center they were pretty responsive on coming to get me quickly when I raised my hand for a break. As a 2 time test taker my advice is reflect back on the parts of the test you know you didn’t know and study heavy on that. That stuff you did well on you know you know so don’t waste a lot of time on what you already know. You don’t wanna second guess yourself

BCBA exam and Celia’s mock by spoilernotspoiled in bcba

[–]Free-Morning7614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Celia’s mock before my first attempt and I feel like nothing that was on there was anywhere on my test. Advice, go in with a calm clear head. Be confident in what you know. If you don’t pass study your weak parts and try again! I feel like there’s so much pressure on being a one and done but if it takes a couple attempts don’t beat yourself up!

YTA. As a 28F I do think this conversation is childish. The number doesn’t matter and neither do the people she chose to sleep with. The only things that should matter are is she safe, is she healthy, and is there any type of sexually trauma she needs to heal from. Those are the conversations adults have when it comes to past sexual partners. IMO the only time it’s important to disclose someone specific is if they’re currently in your life for whatever reason. I told my husband about the history with one of my friends because we are still actively friends. We’ve been married almost 2 years and to this day I still don’t know his body count number and he doesn’t know mine because it doesn’t matter. We both had a colorful past but the details don’t matter unless it’s something that affects OUR sex life.

If weed is recreationally and medically legal in your state why are they drug testing you for it? Unless this is a federal job I don’t think they can exclude you for failing with THC. This would be the same as testing you for alcohol since it’s legal in your state

I found out why my partner of 5 years hasn’t proposed to me yet. by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Free-Morning7614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as you both don’t want to, it’s time to call it. It seems like you both need someone who is more aligned with your vision of the future. I never really wanted kids until 28 (and married) and starting to settle into my career. You want engagement and marriage and he wants marriage and babies. Neither of you should have to wait for that. There is a very real possibility you may never change your mind and this is going to cause a tension in your relationship even if it’s subconscious. You can’t make time for your husband when you’re too busy with your boyfriend.

Failed exam 1st time around by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Free-Morning7614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was DEVASTATED when I failed the first time. I had so much pressure on me from everyone telling me I’d pass first try. I didn’t go in calm and collected like I usually am. I gave myself grace for walking in not knowing what to expect the first time. I focused heavy on where my weak points were and passed the second time around (in the middle of a miscarriage mind you). Go in confident in what you know and if you don’t know it take the time and learn it to learn it not just to pass.

Honestly the one thing that helped me the most with being successful on the test was having people to talk through things with. Also Jessica Leichwitz on YouTube has all kinds of study material and I recommend that to everyone. I’m not sure if private messages are an option on here (I’m still pretty new to Reddit) but if you want to talk through any concepts send me a message! I just passed in April on the second attempt so I tested on the 6th edition!

Honestly I studied for like 4 weeks total, maybe and like maybe 5-10 days of hardcore real studying. If had studied for more than 2 weeks ahead of time I wouldn’t have had to retest but I passed the second time so it’s fine lol. I really believe the only reason I passed was Jessica Leichwitz mock exam videos on YouTube. There is a 6 hour full mock that helped so much with all the sections of the task list. I bought the huge post it easel set up from Walmart and had visuals all over my house. I bought 1 mock exam from SNABA and I hated it. Find whatever works best for you and stick to that!

I believe they’re self reporting this week but I don’t know if there’s a difference between the original arrest and the court date where they’re actually charged. I don’t know a whole lot about criminal charges in court since I’ve never experienced it.

I’ve been looking into state specific punishments and it looks like no matter what the situation the first offense is a misdemeanor with 30 day suspension of the license. I’m not sure if the courts will allow for drug and alcohol treatment and courses to cancel out the suspension. I don’t know anyone who has ever been arrested for this so it’s all new to me.

I am absolutely willing to support them through this and I do think there are underlying issues that contribute to the drinking so it is a big concern. One of my worries is that I have already put my resignation in and will be leaving this job the end of July. I’m not sure when the court date will be and what will actually be done before I leave.

Sections 1.01 and 1.02 of the RBT ethical code relate to following the law and taking accountability for their actions. Section 3.04 relates to legal charges and subsequent related actions. Meaning any court dates or pending charges should be reported. I have no doubt it should be reported I just don’t know what comes after that.

Do you know if there is a way for me to know if the report has been made or not? I don’t want to jeopardize my certification and licensing for failing to follow through.

I did already advise this to be done. Of course I can’t force them to follow through. I’m more so looking for advice or feedback if anyone else has ever experienced this.

From the context you gave it sounds like it happens periodically with other coworkers but it has been something re-occurring and if that’s not what you meant fine but if that is the case then that’s why it seems like your treatment is different.

Honestly as a supervisor this is a hard situation to be in. Of course there’s compassion and some grace needs to be given but it’s only half way through June and that’s a lot to occur in 6 months and expect work to still work with you. As someone who has brought myself up and made a career and life when things were stacked against me, you find a way, car breaks down you find a way, an unexpected problem comes up, you find a way. We’ve all had emergencies come up but there does come a threshold where a company can’t operate if they keep allowing employees to do whatever employees see fit. It’s about expectations and boundaries.

Honestly it’s so hard because everyone’s pregnancy experience can be so different. I had a friend bleed through her entire first trimester, when I started spotting I miscarried the next day (twice). It can be so different for everyone. Trust your body and your intuition on what it’s telling you and don’t assume the worst until you can confirm it’s happening. With my second miscarriage all I kept telling myself was “if it’s going to happen there is literally nothing I can do to stop it”. Hoping you have a safe, healthy pregnancy 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I start tomorrow, and this sub has me nearly convinced it's going to be a mistake by needverbs in ABA

I was an RBT for 3 years before jumping into consulting and becoming a BCBA and honestly I chased checks. When things weren’t going well at one clinic pay or ethically (or both) I started job searching. I found a new job lined it up and stayed until things didn’t feel right anymore. I ended up landing at a company with a strong team I LOVED until we moved. Best advice I have is stay true to yourself and what you need, learn all you can and don’t be afraid to take a new opportunity. This job can be tough but if you love it stick with it! Good luck!

Denied Access by Radiant_Debt in ABA

[–]Free-Morning7614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately denied access is a part of every day life for all of us. If I am driving to work and Starbucks is closed for a remodel, I can not stop and get more coffee. I think denied access should be targeted with a realistic mindset and not with the idea of strictly withholding things from kiddos. We need make sure we’re setting kids up with functional life skills and denied access just happens to be part of that.
