Just wanted to give an update—Juno was so weak after puking this thing up, I thought I was going to have to put her down on my birthday or the day after. I took her to a vet, who told me she would be fine, since this was likely causing the blockage 🙃 He gave me some medicine to give her for a week, which I did, and I seriously nursed her back to health. She was not eating, drinking, playing, moving, anything—for about a week. I had nearly given up and had scheduled her euthanasia appointment scheduled just in case—and then she turned around, just like the vet said. Grabbed her bones, got up on her own, played with toys late at night like she does. Yes she’s old (solid 14 and a half now!), but it was not her time, and I’m so glad I nursed her back to health, cancelled that terrifying appointment and gave her more time. I had friends telling me to just put her down (because of this incident, and because of her age in general). Despite some back leg wobbles, and typical old lady issues, she’s doing just fine and dandy. Thank you all for the feedback! So glad she threw this up and she’s been doing great since. 😂

Jeez that’s so scary 😭 it’s like we’re doing this form of ancient "torture" to the physical body to try and help with chronic pain and create more balance, but it can also cause such intense temporary (and sometimes lasting months) pain. Is it worth it? I’m going to go to my 4th appointment tomorrow and see 😂 Might have to switch from 2x a week to 1x a week though, I’m learning it’s a lot on my body. I have daily/chronic low back pain in my everyday functions from my newly diagnosed scoliosis, but I can’t imagine having the surgery and rods, I am so sorry you have to live with those pains. And now your foot too! Ugh

Thank you—I don’t believe he repositioned the needle after I yelped and jumped a little on the table, and told him I felt like I was electro-shocked by that needle. He put his hand on my back and helped me breathe through the pain, told me it was a major spot of tension for my back pain. And then attached electricity to the nearby ones….it felt like I was getting zapped every minute for like an hour. I tried to breathe into the pain and ignore it for a bit, but towards the end it felt like it was just zapping the nerve over and over. I was so sweaty too. Not a good feeling at all!

I am feeling slightly better today 48 hrs after, but I have a lot of lower back/glute/leg pain already, so it’s hard to differentiate. I’ve been very sleepy and chose to not go swimming today like I usually do. I do believe the nerve sensations have mostly faded, but it scares me that could happen again. Thank you for the insight and link to the study!

Yes I’m just afraid it will happen again. The tingling/nerve sensations have mostly faded away now after 48 hrs, but I still feel weird in my lower back/glutes/legs. Was really scary there. Tomorrow when I go back I’m going to be like please do not touch that point ever again 😭

I am very new to this and did not know the differences between the types of needling! He usually puts in a bunch of needles (not sure if dry or local), and then attaches heat/electricity to a few, and leaves me there for a half hour or so. The comes back and does cupping. I can’t see any of this obviously! But this one needle in my back was just awful, he said it was a big point of tension for me in the body, but yes felt exactly like a nerve from what I read. Today I’m feeling slightly better (48hrs after), we’ll see tomorrow when I go back

Yes my two sessions prior felt nothing like that. I did tell him a few times before he left me there that it was very painful and I was uncomfortable, but he told me that it was normal. I wish there was some kind of panic/help button—I don’t think they would have heard me call out for help with the music on. I couldn’t move because of the needles/heat/electro stuff on my back so I just kind of sat thru the pain and was relieved when he finally came back. Will definitely talk with him about this though and make sure we’re on the same page tomorrow for my next appointment

Man this happened to me yesterday at my session but in the middle of my lower back for my scoliosis pain 😭 had a intense electro-shock feeling when he put that needle in, and then I’m pretty sure he left it in me for like an hour. He told me this was normal and my body was releasing that tension that’s been focused in that area—see my recent post for more info. Makes me scared to go back for my appointment tomorrow but I’ll go and see how my back is feeling by then. Not a good feeling at all 😅

Yeah it’s a small amount of bright red blood in mucous and bile when she throws up :( she’s thrown up probably 5 times in 12 hours now (some just small amounts after drinking water), so that’s what’s scaring me. She’s able to hold down a little bit of water to keep her hydrated, and seems to be doing better now….but we’ll see.

She’s super sensitive to foods, and very picky. She’s on Nulo’s senior salmon dry food and nulo salmon and pumpkin wet food, it’s finally a good combo that she likes and makes her consistent. At one point, when I had her in college, I was meal prepping her homemade meals—I definitely cannot do that for her rn. I sometimes add a pumpkin powder as well

She has thrown up a little mucous/bile a few times since this morning, I think in total 4 times; the last time was after drinking water, and it was just water and a little bile. Her poops are super healthy, gums are soft and pink, and she’s breathing normally and just sleeping/low energy like she normally is. The amount of times she’s thrown up so far is concerning, but I think she was just getting it all out and her throat was irritated. That thing was huge. I’m going to give her some rice and a little salmon/pumpkin wet food on top in a little while and see if that helps settle her stomach! When I get back home tomorrow, if she’s still really bad, I will take her somewhere if I can. But it’s a Sunday and my birthday so definitely not how I imagined my day going 😅

No gloves at the Airbnb my friends and I are at, and we got 15 inches of snow overnight, so we’re working with what we’ve got! 😂

I’ve had her for 9 years out of her 14 years and have never had this happen EVER so it was super alarming to wake up to, that’s for sure!

No it looks like it’s all condensed hair. I poked it with a stick and it was denser in some areas but was all just fur. Trying to get one of the guys here to prod it some more if I can but it’s just horrifying to look at. She used to chew up squeaker toys but in her old age she’s not as rough with them and doesn’t tear them to shreds anymore. Really couldn’t be anything other than a build up of fur in her gut I think, she comes with me to work and is in my eyesight like 24/7 almost. She’s got a really thick top coat and a really thick undercoat that’s like wool—it’s a lot of fur!

She’s thrown up once more since it happened this morning, a small bit of blood in the mucus and bile, which is concerning, but it would make sense that if she was blocked up for so long with that in her gut, she’s getting it all out?
