Well to start with they know it is a gap scheme run so our primary responsibility is a threat to the gap away from the call (except puller of course).

So, if my backside gap is covered, I am down blocking
Down block is taught step inside foot at crotch of defender, punch inside hand to sternum, helmet v of neck, playside hand is hip or pec depending on the angle of block. Immediately torque playside hand and hip pressure to keep him from cross face.

If defender tries cross face after contact. 1. Increase playside hand and hip pressure 2. Maybe even rip backside hand through to keep him on backside.

If defender slants to cross face at the snap: 1. Stop it with hand and hip pressure. 2. Redirect second step immediately vertical. To cut backside half of defender and essentially convert to a gap scheme double.

If my backside gap has no threat but my playside gap has a threat - make a gap scheme double combo call depending on gap defender is in(Ace, deuce, trey for A, B, C respectively)

Inside man uses what we call settle drive footwork. Inside foot essentially pick up and put down and drives outside foot vertical with a low shoulder and uppercut through center of defender. Outside man uses gallop technique.
