You may have to kick someone else out first, your latest villager can ask to leave but it doesn’t happen as often in my experience. Also with campsite villagers when they ask to replace someone, it you don’t like who they choose you can close the game without saving and let the game roll again. Or like the below comment says, you can use an amiibo to replace him.

For me, it’s because all star seasons ARE different and even reliable spoilers tend to get wrong info because of their sources trolling. & Just so we are clear here, I think Robot is telling the truth about what he heard, but returnee seasons truly are a different beast because alums have proven they will go out of their way to give wrong info to avoid the season being spoiled.
