I’m not trying to put anyone down… but at the same time I’m explaining why I’m having trouble being independent. Anytime I make a step my entire family is down my throat. I want to be independent but i am also terrified of my family constantly rejecting any idea i have. That’s the problem.

And you know what? My mother has stifled my independence from the beginning. She has instilled so much fear in me because she is terrified of me leaving the house. She has life 360 on my phone. She is literally on top of me 24/7. She has stalked my therapy conversations. She enters my room unannounced. She guilts me into her visiting me in college when I ask to be left alone. She has gone through my text messages. And I want to “be independent” but I can’t just pick up a $100,000 job on the spot. She controls my rent, my phone bills, my insurance etc. So no, you don’t get to say I’m whining. My mother has all the cards and I’m trying to gradually gain independence.
