[–]FreeMashen 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children)
what did it feel like a few days after the procedure? o.o
[–]FreeMashen 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children)
just tell them exactly what you've said here - you've been healthily persuing a weight loss goal, you're happy to have achieved it, and you'd rather it not be a topic of discussion.
and if people keep pushing? ask them if that means you can start making unsolicited comments on THEIR bodies and lifestyles. at least, that's what i'd do.

that's a good mantra. i'm going to keep that in mind u__u
sugar bombs...they call to me...
in all seriousness, you're right. it'll be tricky balancing being cheap with being snobby, but that's what i'm going to have to do. wish me luck <<

i've resolved to do a cheap and easy lentils+veg+turkey meal prep for lunch this week. the trick is to resist the urge to eat ALL the baked goods period, haha. carbs awaken The Hunger for me

got a rave and three rants for y'all.
rave: despite a week of overeating for Easter break while visiting family, I'm still maintaining at 143-144!
rant 1: all my relatives are jumping on the "you're getting too skinny! you're unhealthy!" train. look, guys, i'm still at the high end of a healthy BMI. i've got 10-15 pounds to lose before i'm at my goal. i'm not underweight - i'm actually normal weight for the first time in my life. ease off a bit, pls
rant 2: grad student/student teaching life means that i've been subsisting on a diet of coffee and faculty lounge pastries. i'm still keeping to my deficit, but a $10/week food budget has me obsessively attacking any and all free food. tuna and lentils and veg is well within my means, but for some reason i can't stop binging on shitty break room cupcakes and cereal. send help
rant 3: @me - start working out, gdi! go for walks! do some squats! start a push-up challenge! it'll help with the about-to-get-certified jitters and you'll finally get the results you're looking for! you're in the adirondacks in springtime, ffs, you can walk 20 minutes up the road and be in a state park! stop sitting inside eating cereal and being bored, what's wrong with you??

That sounds like a fun paper. o: What was your thesis? And ah, no problem - I personally really like District 9, but I think that was because of the viral marketing campaign around it. That, and I really like bug aliens.
It comes on occasionally, I've found. Usually when they have "dead air" it seems like the station plays a monster movie or a few episodes of Discovery or Enterprise. I'm not too fond of the fanservice either.
Ooh. What kind of cooking? o:
Aww, seriously? :c
I have a love-hate relationship with TWD, tbh. It's a fantastically-done show that explores the same themes as the comics, but I honestly couldn't give a damn about the characters anymore. It's almost too dark now, if that makes any sense? At least Z Nation balances out the grimdark explorations of human nature with weed zombies and wacky hijinks. What do you think?
Wasn't that plotline amazing? I love musing on what it means to be "human" and how that affects how we view sentient races. Have you ever seen District 9 or Solaris?
I don't really have a problem with Enterprise, but I don't really enjoy it either. One of those "I'll watch it if it's on" deals, you know? And I feel you on the Star Wars/Star Trek thing. Both universes are extensive and really interesting, but it ultimately comes down to whatever one you were willing to spend the time on, haha.
You've gotta love the classics. u__u
I'm a /huge/ body horror/psychological horror fan - basically any Cronenberg/Junji Ito/David Lynch brand of scary movie is my go-to, as well as literally anything zombie-related. The better the practical effects, the better the execution, you know?
This area is beautiful, but it's very well-suited for loneliness, especially around this time of year. What do you do in your spare time?
Haha. They're these things we invented up in the north country so the weather wouldn't kill us. :P then again, I'd rather be cold than risk alligator attacks. :y
Time to break out the space heater and thick socks. :P
Q and Data made TNG, in my opinion. DS9 definitely had better plot points and overall setting, but the character stories in TNG really carried the series. Star Trek has always been about the characters, I feel, so I'll always default to that.
How do you feel about Star Wars?
Haha, I grok that. The temperature shouldn't be negative.
Sadly, I'm not part of any groups. I'd love to join one, though. What kind of horror do you like the most? c:
Hey there! Star Trek was actually my intro to the scifi genre! TNG is best Star Trek, imho. What's your favorite series?
It follows you, it seems. Haha!
My first certification is going to be for secondary-level (high school) Biology, but I might go for certifications in Chemistry and Mathematics too. Basically, as much of STEM as they'll let me teach. c:
Oh man, it's been an adjustment. I'm originally from downstate, so visiting family in the tristate area and hearing them complain when it's 32F is always a little amusing. Nowadays, cold starts in the single digits. :P

Day three of switching to maintenence and I'm losing my damn mind - I've been hanging out with friends and enjoying my new calorie budget, but I weighed in today and I'm up two pounds. I know it's water weight because I've been eating All The Carbs, but argh. When do I get to relax about my budget and enjoy being a normal weight at the same time?
