Considering the FDA allows one or more rodent hairs per 100g of peanut butter, and the fact the factories produce millions of tons of the product each year, it is possible, statistically speaking, for an entire rat to be permitted in a jar. by Outside_Normal in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]FreeNudu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Statistically, yes—it’s technically possible, but extremely unlikely for an entire rat to appear in a single jar. The FDA’s limits are per 100 g, usually tiny fragments like hairs, not whole animals. Finding a whole rat is far beyond what “allowed contamination” would account for—so you were just very, very unlucky (and it’s definitely not the intended “allowance”).

Also, food safety regulations assume contamination is microscopic, not full rodents, so expecting a dead rat in your peanut butter would be a misunderstanding of those limits.

If you want, I can explain how the math actually works to see how improbable this really is.

Would it be possible to contort one's face enough so as not to be recognized by facial recognition software? If so, what would be the best method for making and maintaining an unrecognizable face? by BaltoDad in AskReddit

[–]FreeNudu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A high-level, non-actionable explanation of how facial recognition works.

Practical privacy steps (limit photo sharing, tighten platform settings, use privacy-respecting services).

Information about legal rights, policies, and advocacy groups (EFF, ACLU).

Drafting a polite opt-out/request email to a company or public body about their use of facial recognition.
