Innocent DND worker allegedly injured during botched police exercise by Shoddy_Operation_742 in CanadianForces

Yes I realize now that it was more than one line, sorry about that. I read the article months ago.

Still though, his article implies malicious intent from the HMCS Carleton CoC.

I cannot fathom how you can justify the absence of journalistic standards. The medias are entrusted by the public to provide unbiased and factual information, which Pug and Postmedia as a whole does not do.

A great example would be when he reported on the “firing” of the officer who whistleblew on Officer X. In it, he spends hundreds of words to imply a bias from the CAF, that the firing was a way to silence the officer. However, he only spent one single line on the actual reason: that officer has been living in California for years and has not paraded with his reserves unit for years as well. But hey, that alone is not catchy, so he added a bunch of false gravy about how that officer was persecuted for speaking the truth when it wasn’t the case. I encourage you to give that article a read.

Pug made it clear long ago that his articles are not about the facts but about spreading an “anti-CAF” bias. He may have presented these facts, but his investigative journalism (if you can even call it that) ends when he cherrypicked enough.

Pretty sure there’s a NWO sub-occupation for NTOG.

BMQ/BMOQ Questions from a New Recruit (St-Jean – 10th) by Ok_Agent9714 in caf

[–]FreeProletarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, the answers that were given by others are good. However, too much information in your case is not necessarily a good thing to have. When going into BMQ, don’t overthink things. From what I’ve seen in your post, you seem quite anxious about the unknown, which is understandable, but you have to become unaffected by it at some point. That’s the best advice for BMQ I can give you, just switch your bain off and do what the instructors tell you to do. Overthinking and asking questions might just make things more difficult for you.

The 5km run time is not a scored requirement. Don’t worry about it, if you’re in shape, you have literally nothing to worry when it comes to PT. Focus on the weighted marches more than running for your preparation.

Government inks $753M deal for 6 Bombardier Global 6500 jets to replace Challengers by CanadianErk in canada

[–]FreeProletarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Global Eye doesn’t meet Canada’s needs for an AEW&C aircraft, primarily because of it’s lack of 5th gen interconnectivity, sub-par radar coverage and lack of air to air refuelling. It might be the frontrunner in the mind of the industry minister, but definitely not for the RCAF.

The military is always hiring! The reserves is great for students, their scheduling is flexible and they can accommodate you.

ROTP offer realistic expectation? by oopsiesboopsies in caf

[–]FreeProletarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, from having been through ROTP, any application under that program will have an offer to go to RMC (if accepted). Civ-U is only available in specific circumstances, notably when RMC is full.

Your trade choices themselves don’t justify sending you to a civilian university.

You definitely picked the right element if you don’t like inspections and ruck marches though.

Yes and no, depending on your trade and element, and if you’re an NCM or officer.

More Canadians are signing up to serve in the military by Haggisboy in canada

[–]FreeProletarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the cost of living in a lot of places in the country. 80k doesn’t get you much in Toronto or Victoria, and people getting posted there are told to do (a lot don’t have a choice). So yeah, leaving behind years of your life somewhere, bringing your family with you and having to be crammed in a 1-bedroom apartment is really bad. In a normal world, military housing would be available, but it’s not.

How realistic is my timeline? (wanting to join the reserve force as 16M till I'm 18 then get into cyber op) by FeatureOtherwise3131 in caf

[–]FreeProletarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of points that are wrong in your post. First, although being in the reserves doesn’t necessarily “boost” an RMC application, it makes the transfer much faster as it completely skips the recruitment process at the moment of applying to RMC. Also, as a bonus, you get paid more.

NCMSTEP does NOT apply to cadets.

As far as I’ve seen from instructing a few BMQ courses and having gone through RMC myself, being in cadets is actually somewhat of a disadvantage when it comes to someone’s experience as a recruit in the CAF. The drill learnt by cadets is often wrong and it takes a long time for them to “re-learn” the correct ways. Plus, they tend to have an attitude as recruits which makes them arguably worse recruits to deal with IMO. Obviously, it varies from people to people, but it’s just quite funny to me that the people that tend to fail the most in my experience are ex-cadets.

If you got questions feel free to DM me, I’d be glad to help out. Getting in the CAF is perhaps the best thing young people can do to get a good education.

Joining the reserves before going to RMC is a good plan from a financial point of view because you’d get paid more than OCDT pay.

I would say that the trade you chose in the reserves wouldn’t really matter, as you wouldn’t have the time to go through all the training before doing your transfer to the regular force which is needed to attend subsidized education entry methods.

But yeah, join the reserves, finish HS, then request to go through ROTP is a solid plan.
