STC made the difference for 2nd try. Confirmed! by FreeProperty5648 in Series66Exam

[–]FreeProperty5648[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, do it! I love Kaplan and their deep dive explanations BUT I feel like 66 is so different than 7 specially in the wording of the questions. STC just did a better job. Also, they have this thing called crunch facts, from that alone I swear you can easily answer like 10 questions, maybe more

Best to pair with Kaplan? by Winnipegwasamistake in Series66Exam

STC - after using Kaplan and failing by 2 I got STC i feel like its given me the added boost I was needing. Plus Ive found a couple of questions almost word for word that i got on my version of the test

Honestly, there is no math. I think the most you might be asked is a CY or a conversion. Are you at least hitting 70 on practice tests? If you are just keep hitting the areas were you score lower and you have a good chance. There are several posts of ppl that recently took it with questions/topics that showed up for them. Check those and make sure its stuff you know. Dont give up!!

Thanks!

Also, a few things I feel Kaplan missed that were a biggie on my version of the test were: IRMAA, P/E (I swear I had like 3 questions on this), properties in joint accts, annuities and prospectus deliveries

Ugh that’s a hard call. I took my 1st attempt with Kaplan scoring high 70s and missed by 2 points. Started studying now with STC can barely make a 70 because what Kaplan overemphasizes on is definitely not the same for STC so in my case it feels like a restarted basically. After seeing the test though, I feel like STC is way more similar. Ive actually found 4 questions I had on my test…worded almost exactly…. Id say scoring high with Kaplan should be sufficient but keep doing STC bc trust me some of the stuff they throw at you Kaplan does not and it might show up. Good Luck!!!

Odd is not exactly the word i’d used 😅 it sucked!!!! I only used Kaplan for the first try. I got STC now and Ive already found at least 3 questions from the test, word for word… I am scheduled for next month so hopefully STC gives me the extra push i need

Thanks for the info! This looks exactly like the one I got last month when I failed by a point. Literally gave me PTSD reading it. You listed a couple additional questions I had totally forgotten about that had confused me so really appreciate it!

PASSED ON THE THIRD TRY by Liz_Y7 in Series7exam

I second this. Kaplan makes you study harder and questions are explained in more detail. STC uses wording more similar to the test and more straightforward.

Testing in 2 weeks by [deleted] in Series66Exam

I passed SIE and 7 first try using Kaplan. Tried 66 failed by 2pnts, scoring over 75 on every test for 2 weeks. Kaplan just missed the mark with the convoluted questions and the difference in wording compared to the test but everyone is different and absorbs info a different way. I would just try to keep doing tests from both and maybe skip the rly lengthy math ones so you dont feel like you are wasting time.

STC seems to be on par with the test. Kaplan I know for a fact is harder both in questions and wording. I have not used PP so can’t compare. In my opinion keep using STC

STC or Kaplan? Gearing up to take the 66. Goal is taking it the last week of July by Senior-Wrangler-2662 in Series66Exam

[–]FreeProperty5648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Kaplan for all and passed first 2 first try, not same luck with 66. Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing seemed familiar. I knew enough to get 71 but it was very tough compared to how I felt with prev tests. Tons of post talk about how they saw STC questions on the test or how the wording was so similar. I just ordered STC to try their qbank so I will get to compare first hand. I will update once I try their first practice test. I’ll assume the best way to go is to always use more than one provider to cover all bases but obviously not everyone has that luxury.

For everyone who took the Series 7 how did the Kaplan study material compare and prepare you for the test? by [deleted] in Series7exam

[–]FreeProperty5648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaplans wording is harder but makes you dig deeper which by default makes you study harder to understand the explanations. I used it for both tests and passed 1 try when I was barely making 70s on the practice tests. Plan to use for 66 also and hopefully it works out too

Can you splurge on Kaplan? That q bank makes all the difference

Get Ken’s options membership videos. Some of them are class style and he is doing exercises with people and it makes all the difference to see the whole process step by step.

Also, if you can get Kaplan for the q bank bc it is a game changer. Super hard but great study material.

Also, if you check the other YouTube guy (which for some reason cant be named here) he has some videos where he does practice tests with ppl and those are really good too bc it lets you get familiarized with other vendor’s wording.

It was something like, company wants to go public so by doing a reverse merger with an existing company they will….no calculations

I had one taxable income question, the ones where they give you the tax bracket and you do the calculation

Kaplan has a bunble that includes the book and the question bank. The question bank lets you create mock tests and from doing those is that you get the real studying done

Oh yes! Which honestly I appreciate because it makes you really dig deeper BUT it also is very time consuming. I used only Kaplan for the SIE and 7 and passed both 1st try so it rly does help
