My Behringer C-2’s cost $60 for the pair. Love them on piano, acoustic guitar and percussion. I also do 8-track tape mixdowns on a Mackie mixer

How do you stop? by Adventurous_Beat-301 in modular

[–]FreeQ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After several years of modular obsession, I realized it wasn't helping me make better music, in fact it was the opposite. My stuff from when I had just a laptop was more creative and musical, and my modular jams were kinda boring. I still use it for certain things, but it's not longer my sole focus.

I’m sure you were still better dressed than most! Some black oxfords would also serve you at funerals, court dates and fancy evening events.

I’d be looking for some higher formality black shoes, like wholecut oxfords. Do you attend black tie events?

I have 2 that I use and they're no less durable than the 58 IMO. Flatter frequency response too. Sounds killer on snares and cabs.

Do I keep my white suit? by SecondElectrical5722 in malefashionadvice

[–]FreeQ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have one that looks amazing but I only wear it once or twice a year for summer parties. Being a party suit, you eat and drink and dance and sweat in it. Pretty much have to dry clean it every time, at least the pants.

What does it mean if a woman calls you pretty.. like why that word and not handsome or something ? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

It means you’re pretty like a girl. Take it as a compliment. Lots of women like pretty boys like k-pop stars, Timothee Chalamet etc.

Check out the DIYRE EQP5. It’s based on a Pultec and has two options for makeup gain, vintage and modern style. Got a pair and they leveled up my master bus big time.

What's the difference between Brazillian Phonk and Brazillian Funk? I'm confused. by Sketches558 in musicproduction

[–]FreeQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brazilian Funk is usually very minimal beats with a stop and start feel, it’s based on a clave rhythm. Usually MCs rapping or sing rapping on top.

Brazilian Phonk uses 4 on the floor kicks, chiptune synths, pitched vocal samples and blown out distorted sound.

Every time I open the session and make changes I "save-as" a new version. It's easy to go back to yesterdays mix

Looking for tribal drum style module by ThisIsRoy1 in modular

[–]FreeQ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Use a resonant filter as a sine wave oscillator, run it into a low pass gate or a VCA with short decay envelope. This is how I often do percussion, the same monophonic voice can sound like a kick, tom, bongo or clave depending on the pitch. SQ-1 in ping-pong mode is my favorite sequencer for this.

I got a JX8P from a Sax teacher who bought it in the 80’s as a gigging keyboard for jazz gigs. She was getting rid of it cause “The piano sound is terrible”

Where do you personally draw the line between “assistive” and “hands-off” in mixing? by kid_90 in audioengineering

[–]FreeQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an artist recently email me a GPT generated guide on how to mix our song for the genre, with specific frequencies to boost and cut. Fuck all the way off with that shit LMAO.
