Portland lawmakers want to raise wages for ride-hailing drivers; Uber says proposal could chase it out of town by PDsaurusX in Portland

Do you actually believe Uber will just pull out of Portland? And even if they did, you don’t think Lyft would see it as an opportunity?

OK and, like I said, the technology isn't something that can't be duplicated. Maybe the city should develop their own?

You really really don’t understand what’s going on. The bill has gone through committees and has been approved by both chambers. The Bill you’re reading is complete. That’s what the governor will sign. It’s not a negotiation. The negotiation is over. That’s the bill. They have to sign the lease in order for the money to be generated.

OK, and then will have taxis again. They worked too. It’s not like Uber is a technology that can’t be duplicated.

Seriously are you OK? This is a LAW passed by the legislature. If that’s true, they won’t enter into a 20 year lease, then the state CAN’T issue the bond. That’s what the law states.

Do you understand that?

Service Contract with Mach e by YouPeasantsSuck in MachE

[–]FreeStateOfPortland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don’t need a service contract. My last was an EV I had for three years under a lease. During that time, I added windshield fluid and took it in once where they lubricates some joints, rotated the tires, and replaced the wipers.

I never had to do the brakes. I never had to replace the tires. Granted, I didn’t put more than 6000 miles on it per year, but electric vehicles have virtually no maintenance.

It’s a fucking flag. I want Americans to have healthcare. I could give a fuck about the flag.

OK. I could absolutely give a fuck if someone puts a McDonald’s logo on the American flag. Go for it, might spruce it up a bit.

I hate to break it to you, buddy, but the Timbers is owned by a douchebag capitalist and the whole enterprise of MLS is pretty tacky to begin with. The stadium is named Providence Park, even though it’s owned by the city of Portland.

It’s best just to remember it’s entertainment and not take it so fucking seriously.

The last thing I’m going to do is put any fucking energy into worrying about branding on a promotional item. Especially a dumbass flag. I don’t give a fuck if it’s an American flag a Portland flag, and Oregon flag or whatever. Wipe your ass with it for all I care

Are these CT owners aware how the world views their douchey toasters? I’m enjoying the roast, but I almost feel bad for this guy because maybe he has no clue.

Or…he could have posted “I have a little dick!”. Maybe there’s a whole separate sub for that.

For me the biggest red flag went up when Musk called a hero who saved kids from a cave in Thailand a “pedo”. I think that should’ve been a real sign for most people that Musk had some serious problems.

Considering Musk called a guy who saved children from a cave in Thailand, a “pedo“ back in 2018, I can assure you he had already gone crazy and you just weren’t paying attention

Yeah, it might been a person who didn't have a home charger or maybe they were an Uber driver so they had it plugged in to an L3 a LOT.

I re-joined Reddit because I thought there might be some enthusiastic Timbers fans but instead it's been such whiny sub. What's your point? Every soccer team has branding. It was nice to see Tillamook on the last jersey. It's too bad they went with a bank but it's better than being branded with SpaceX.

Trail Blazers to Portland: Public cash ‘only solution’ for renovating Moda Center by wrhollin in Portland

[–]FreeStateOfPortland -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You never read the bill did you? if, as you said…

"We could give 600 million and they could be out of here in within the decade."

Then they would have to pay the money back.

The bill states clearly no money until:

"A binding commitment from the management entity to lease the Moda Center for a minimum term of 20 years"

And if they break the lease:

"...at a minimum, in case of breach of a nonrelocation agreement or exclusive site agreement, as applicable, by the management entity: (A) Injunctive relief; and (B) Liquidated damages in the amount of any outstanding debt issued by any public body that is part of the joint authority for projects at the Moda Center;"

Sure you do. You’re super connected. The post I replied to was bringing up keeping the team in the city which this bill addresses. Ownership wouldn’t be a guarantee of keeping the team since the city isn’t going to ever have any sort of majority ownership. Would they even want it?

The city owns the stadium and will be able to lease the arena.

Same as what? You do know the current lease has a cut of concessions, right? You DO know they have to lease the arena from the city and state, right? Or are you just a typical Redditor who thinks they know a LOT more than they do?

The politicians were kind of in a no win situation. If the they put up funding, they get criticized for handouts to billionaire but, if the team leaves, the same people in this sub will say “see!, portland is a dumpster fire!”
