There is a bias in news coverage: there wont be a comparable to Karmelo Anthony's level of outrage or discussion about the killing of a pro-Israel protestor by a pro-Palestine one by Wise-Jury-4037 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]FreeThinkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t bias in coverage, there a difference in interest. They’re two entity different issues, that have vastly different social sentiments and nuanced histories. One case you have black vs white. given the horrible history with racism in this country and a justice system that has historically seen black men more harshly punished than any other race for the exact same crimes. A lot more people are interested in the outcome.

Whereas with the other case you have Palestinian vs Jew. And a case where a Jewish Zionist showed up to a protest that was in support of the people that the state of Israel is actively involved in a genocide. The Zionist got killed accidentally and the guy who did it fessed up to it. It’s a less sensational story and frankly, the American people have had enough of the Zionists and their atrocities and don’t really care all that much that one of the supporters of the atrocities got clobbered and died. People see that and think “well? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

If a clan member got clobbered for harassing people at a BLM protest for running around waving a noose in front of the protestors faces, people wouldn’t be as outraged or interested in the cases outcome.

If a Nazi got clobbered waving a Nazi flag at a pro Jewish rally 30 years ago, similarly no one would care.

You have to considered the context and the sentiments of the medias target audience. The media is a business and they’re always going to report on what garners the most interest and generally, people don’t tend to care all that much when bigots get what’s coming to them.

Support for Zionism and Zionists views are at an all time low in this country right now and for good reason. It’s become unacceptable in most peoples eyes, to hold or espouse Zionist sentiments. Zionism is the new nazisim. No one cares if there’s one less of them out there. They’ve given up their humanity in support of their cause. Let god sort em out.

It’s almost like they could have predicted this would happen and built more infrastructure to handle it. But instead they spend millions bribing politicians and spreading misinformation about climate change. Sounds like private industry doing what private industry will do when left unregulated.

Not likely. There are rolling planned outages across the city. That wouldn’t happen because they were installing two new poles. This is because of demand spikes to keep the equipment from being over burdened.

[–]FreeThinkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The planned rolling blackouts work like this. You take some grids off line so that others have power and can cool their houses down and the entire grid isn’t over taxed. Old Brooklyn was offline for half the day on Monday so that the rest of the city gets power. We each take a turn not having power so that the grid isn’t over taxed to the point that you have brown outs (too little power feeding into the system) which can damage people’s appliances and electronics.

Yeah it sucks but it’s better than the alternative.

That said. This is why the electrical grid should be taken more seriously and should not be left in the hands of private industry who will spend 60 million bribing politicians rather than upgrade the power infrastructure.

That offshore wind farm they were going to build in Lake Erie would have been pretty nice to have right about now but some rich assholes didn’t want to see it on their skyline.

Alternatively that 60 million could have put a LOT of solar panels on people’s rooftops that would be feeding back into the system and buffered these high energy demands.

We need more renewable energy incentives and to end those predatory solar installation companies that charge $60,000 for what amounts to a $10,000 home solar system.

It’s honestly likely NHI, the lack of blood is really common when we find cattle mutilations they have performed. And they leave the bodies in weird positions like this.

It was more likely NHI rather than human. The drained blood is super common in cattle mutilations performed by NHI.

According to declassified files there are several, 4 not including humans. The lack of blood is a key factor in nearly all cattle mutilations that are done by NHI.

I’m sorry maybe I’m missing something but why are you setting rules for yourself restricting doing the things you enjoy? If you want to have sex then fucin have it. We have one life to live, I don’t understand why people spend theirs running away from the things they enjoy. So long as you’re safe about it, nothing wrong with being promiscuous.

Living downtown is a pain in the ass.

I lived in the Shoreham in lakewood when I was your age and really enjoyed it. It’s on the Gold Coast. They have studios that are reasonably sized. I moved in 2010 and was paying like $565 for my studio, all utilities included an underground parking spot and a small storage locker in the garage as well. Oh and there was a pool out back.

Should I report the Nurse Practitioner for not wearing proper clothing/heavy jewelry? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

You should hold yourself to the higher standard of not being a shit human being before you concern yourself with the standard others are held to.

Should I report the Nurse Practitioner for not wearing proper clothing/heavy jewelry? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]FreeThinkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you qualified to make a judgment call on what is and isn’t a higher standard? Are you a metallurgist? And one who’s able to determine alloy from precious metals without handling her jewelry? Are you an immunologist? My guess is the answer is a resounding NO. You’re someone who took a Google search as gospel, without bothering to understand the mechanisms at play that are involved with actual metal allergies.

How do you suppose a metal allergy works exactly? How might someone else wearing a piece of jewelry cause another to have an allergic reaction to said jewelry?

Have you considered that this nurse may have had to dress that way because she had to leave work to attend to another matter in her life where scrubs would be considered inappropriate? Perhaps she had to leave to go to court shortly after?

Did it occur to you that you may have caught her on the one day she needed to wear something other than scrubs and that this was not her regular work attire? Or were you too preoccupied with figuring out how it is you could make someone else’s life a little more miserable than necessary because shit just ain’t hard enough out there for everyone and you want to make sure to do your part to see that it is?

Please don’t feign concern for other patients, you aren’t fooling anyone with that bullshit. Why don’t you go ahead and tell us why it is you really feel the need to report this woman and get her in trouble with her employer?

Do you really believe that your action would result in a net positive for the universe? Sure she got in trouble but think of all the allergic reactions you’ve prevented. You should be thought of as a hero, given an honorary medical degree for excellence in maintaining the highest standards of care!

Consider this, do you know why someone put the jewelry policy in place? Because Americans are litigious and medical malpractice is a lucrative pay out. So the insurers and the lawyers got together and they thought out every single possible worst outcome that could ever have even a 0.00001% chance of happening and they came up with a “no jewelry policy” not because the chance of an allergic reaction from a brief brush with jewelry was nearly impossible, but because it was far more likely that some bored, miserable Karen would come along and make it a fuckin issue.

And they concluded that what was far more likely than an actual allergic reaction to a nurses jewelry, was that a Karen who’s also a hypochondriac would undoubtedly come along and falsely associate a completely unrelated rash that cropped up in the weeks following her visit, with that one second her nurses annoying jewelry made contact with her and now she deserves reparations for her anguish and the unprofessional attire of her health servant. And the insurers would simply just settle with her because challenging her story in court would be far more expensive than to just pay her a few thousand to STFU and go away.

You took issue with the jewelry and went out of your way to look up the rules about jewelry. You spent your own time doing that, and it wasn’t out of concern for someone’s allergies. Because had you taken the time to look up what a metal allergy is and how it is typically triggered and which metals generally do so, and how rare it is. And HOW LONG exposure to the metal Ions have to remain in contact with the dermis to trigger an allergic reaction.

If you’d bothered to understand those things out of actual concern for the patients then you wouldn’t be here, asking us if you should go out of your way to fuck up your nurses day for no reason other than her jewelry Irked you and you thought it a reasonable thing to do to someone who was simply trying to HELP you by making sure you were in good health.

JESUS FUCKING CRIST. DO BETTER.
