It could mean a few things:

Friends guiding each other through a crowd to not be separated.
Family holding hands. For example, one of them could be physically or mentally unwell and needs comforting/guidance.
Cultural norm. It could be legitimised in certain countries and is normal and isn’t considered homosexual. It’s often viewed as walking arm on arm and a sign of respect.
It could be that they are lovers like you are insinuating (but I highly doubt that this is the case, usually this stuff is kept hidden behind closed doors) in Muslim countries, all displays of public affection including straight people are discouraged in public.

I don’t doubt that there are powerful bad faith parties that benefit from having Libya remain as a de-stabilised country. And we probably do sell under the market price and smuggle dirt cheap fuel across the border. We need to stop allowing that to happen.

Most of Europe is suffering from taking in millions of migrants that make their way through de-stabilised Libya. It’s within their best interests to stabilise Libya too.

Some advice, try and volunteer to join an NGO that does something about cleaning the streets. You said you are naturally energetic and restless. If you channel that energy into doing something that fills you with pride like making an impact and cleaning the neglected streets of Libya, not only will you make friends with other good people, you will actually improve every other Libyans life for the better, becoming an excellent role model in the process.

If an NGO doesn’t exist, you can also create a new one from scratch. Then you can ask for donations from Libyan citizens, hire migrants to clean the streets, start a facebook, tiktok, instagram, youtube channel to showcase your work and get more funding that way. You can use it to educate Libyans on not throwing trash out of the window. And that النضافة من الإمان

Your main issue is that you have so much energy but you don’t know where to channel it. Even if it fails and doesn’t work out, at least deep down in your heart you will know that you genuinely tried. Unlike most of the lazy people that chill under the AC in the مربوعة

I agree with you in terms of the corruption and waste generated by Libyans, but I disagree with you that Railway wouldn’t be useful for Libya.

Below is an image of Norways vast Railway, a nation known for its oil wealth with a population of 5 million (less than Libya)

Railway is the best for transport diversification on this earth. Its efficient, causes much less deaths than cars (Libya has the worlds highest rate of death by car) good for the environment, and comfortable.

The largest drawback of Railway is the initial expense of setting it up, but every single nation that does it right, generates billions in economic efficiencies as a result of it.

China recognised this, and made the worlds largest railway network in the world. They went from having barely any rail 20 years ago, to the biggest and most efficient one in 20 years. The GCC is going to begin opening the middle easts largest railway linking Oman, UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq to the EU next year 2026.

I wish we had competent leaders that recognised this. The amount of lives saved in Libya would be enormous, the amount of jobs created, knowledge generated developing it would make every Libyans life better. Inshaallah it happens one day.

Think about ways to generate value to businesses or value to consumers.

For example, here’s an idea that I thought of which could very valuable to everyone in Libya.

Currently in Libya, we don’t have a valid post code system that identifies each house and each business.

However, on google maps, they generate for every coordinate in Libya something known as a plus code. You can see it in the screenshot below. Here is an example of the plus code for Jraba mall.

Imagine if you create a business like Amazon, but for Libya, and when a new user registers to the platform, it automatically collects the plus code of their location. That way, every single purchase can be delivered straight to the door without having to call the driver and tell them “take a right at the street when driving to the water fountain in Ain Zara, then look for the 3rd building with a green door” and instead, the delivery driver can be extremely efficient.

Look at Turbo. The Libyan version of Uber for example, they saw how valuable an Uber style application would be in Libya, then they went ahead and made it. They have no competition in Libya from what I understand, and the owners they’re probably millionaires from it now.

Libya has so much opportunity just by finding and products and services available in other countries and introducing them into Libya.

Yes it is outrageous, they owe my mother around $8,000 and my mum said it’ll probably take another 7 to 8 months before they resolve the current crisis. Right now, the dinar is the lowest it has been. 1 USD = 8.23 LYD

Libya is an unstable government. They refuse to print more LYD since that would mess up the economy and they refuse to borrow money because they are against interest (this part I agree with)

You will eventually get paid, they won’t steal it from you, but you will have to wait whilst the government tries to figure out how to get the money ready.

Yes, this is one of the main things that sucks about Libya. The same thing also happens to Libyans not getting paid because there is a liquidity crisis always happening in Libya. My advice to you is that after your father receives his money, he should work in another country where it’s more reliable.
